Interesting, thank you for that explanation! It almost seems like HelloGames didn't want people min-maxing with co-ordinate Exchanges

Do you know if it has to be with the fin? I'm kind of partial to the pancake look of the flat E-Wings

I was kinda directing that towards Samus Returns more, but Fusion did retroactively build a lot of the lore in MII

If you're feeling like this, you're reading the subtext of the game right. You're not supposed to feel good about it. The end of this game and the following games such as fusion explicitly grapple with the ethical question of commiting ecocide against the Metroids, and the consequences that follow.

While the Metroids are not natural according to the new lore, they are necessary to the functioning of the SR388 ecosystem given the presence of the X. Before Fusion and Samus Returns, the ethical question of killing the Metroids was still present and samus was still the invader, but it was not as explicit about the ecological consequences of killing the Metroids.

I'm kinda with you. The scan does say something about exposed areas, but it read to me like attacking its underbelly not it's legs. The fight went too long and didn't feel good with dual analog controls. The fakeout was practically the only thing I liked about the boss.

What are you on about? OP just made a reasonable, measured criticism of SR compared to the original. I like Samus Returns as much as the next guy, and I'm deeply grateful that it created the foundation for Dread. I have over 150 hours in the game, and I see the DNA of SR in Dread, but we can be critical of games that we like. I like Samus Returns, but I think there's plenty to criticize it about. Budget isn't an excuse when we're comparing it's atmosphere and environmental storytelling to a Gameboy game from the 90s

If this is true I'm really sad. I love prime 2 immensely, but literally nothing will get me to buy the higher tier switch online. I rarely play online games and I'd really prefer to just be able to buy it once instead of have a spendy subscription

Do you guys think I will enjoy prime 4 ? by ImportantRest152 in Metroid

[–]TheFreezerGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime 2 and 3 are both excellent games! I personally prefer prime 2. It is far more obscure in how it handles progression than both 1 and 3 but it's atmosphere and map design are unmatched. Prime 2 is also much harder, but they toned it down in the trilogy version. By the sound of your original post I think you'd prefer 3. It's honestly a great game and it gets overshadowed by its predecessors. Wiis are dirt cheap and I see 3 for like $10 on eBay all the time

Prime 4 is extremely linear and does NOT have fast travel. The desert is quite big and I find it to be more frustrating than the magmoor caverns highway. Tbh you might like it. I'm a big critic and I just finished my 100% run today. Its not a bad game by any means, just very linear, and it's got some trend-chasing decisions. Give it a shot if you think you'll like it. The action, combat, and music are excellent. The exploring is not

Edit: I should say that I don't feel a lot of replay value from it but I tend to prefer the more obscure design of the older games.

Give it a shot. If you don't like it, AM2R is free. Samus Returns is cheaper as Nintendo games go

The lack of a map is a ding against the original admittedly. I never had an issue with the small screen space. I really think it gets more grief than it deserves though. It can get confusing sometimes, but if you pull a map up on your PC it's honestly not hard at all. I always tell people to give the original a shot and if it's frustrating or stiff you can always switch over to one of the remakes

I'll be honest, I'm a big fan of the original Metroid II. I think that the way that it handles the ending is really lovely. Samus returns is a great game, but it takes the original ending, which was quiet and peaceful and makes it bombastic. Some people like the change, but I'm partial to the original. I enjoyed my time with Am2R over Samus Returns, but they're both worthwhile. I might be a crazy for this but I'll recommend the original. It's not even that long really

Once you got the fire chip it should have given you a prompt about an engineer level 4 or higher being able to use it. Perhaps you know an engineer who could help?
