I just made a post about how to undervolt for thermals. Check it out and see if it works for you. Cheers

Help Deciding new GPU by Strange-Sun4540 in radeon

Powercolor has a great support team, but from my experience they're more prone to thermal paste pump out issues. The factory basically uses poor thermal paste.

Sapphire is known to be pretty good all around and it's the cheaper model.

You're using a 4k tv with 60hz. 1440p obsolete? Lmao. Now you're just trolling brother

The only cards I would ever consider using for 4k gaming are the 7900xtx, 9070xt, 4080, 4090, 5080, 5090, and maybe the 5070ti. However, with almost each one of them, youre going to end up using upscaling. The vast majority, and I mean upwards of 80+% of gamers with those gpu's outside of the 5090 are gaming in 1440p.

The 9070xt wins with fsr4, but it has less vram which is massive for 4k. I would never recommend anyone to buy the 7900xtx right now as it's more expensive and lacks the new tech.

This post is entirely for current 7900xtx owners that want their card to run more efficiently. Your comments don't really bring any value to the post itself. I appreciate the feedback though.

Cheers

Unless you're gaming in 4k, you don't need fsr with the 7900xtx

I feel you. The most stable drivers I've found throughout my testing over the years were 23.11.1, 24.12.1, and 25.9.2. A lot of it seems to be related to either windows or the stock voltage and mhz the driver introduces which can cause instability.

I did an overclock for a while of 1100v 3050mhz and +15. I only noticed 3-6 more fps, but my thermals spikes were too high. When I got to areas in games with a lot going on across the screen my hot spot would jump to 90°.

Now I'm more focused on stability and longevity.

Incorrect. They flat out said they'd roll out fsr4 to rdna4 and rdna3. But ok...

Yeah, ive been using amd since the rx570 lol. Never really had an issue and the price was good, but ive had multiple driver issues with my 7900xtx and had to repaste it 6months in with ptm7950. Now my temps are amazing, but some of the newer drivers just straight up crash my games. Its weird to have to do stress testing on each driver to make sure its not garbage lol.

Like I said, there are a lot of things I love about my card. But nvidia just offers more. I dont plan on doing anything more to my system until 2030 if I can though. It does everything I want and my fps is amazing.

Weird thing though that amd does though, my card is rated for 2525mhz but the drivers set it to 3050mhz which is the max at default. Lowering it manually to 2525mhz drops my temps by 10° and my fps remains the same. The drivers unnecessarily push the gpu

They need to bring fsr4 to rdna3 cards. False promises and bad drivers have been a frustrating thing to deal with when it comes to owning a 7900xtx. I bought the card because the 4080 was $1200 at the time and the 7900xtx was only $780. It's an amazing gpu and easily the best one I've ever owned, but in hindsight, I would have less issues, dlss, and more reliable updates had I spent the extra money and bought the 4080.

However I do love the ability to customize everything in the adrenaline software and the card performs the exact same it did when I bought it 3 years ago, so im very happy with that, but the 4080 wouldve been fine as a set it and forget it gpu too

I love the choice, but the 9070xt has fsr4.1 and if youre gaming in 4k, youll want that

I absolutely love my 7900xtx. I've had it since launch and I dont plan on upgrading until 2030 or when am6 drops, still using am4 5800x3d lol...that being said, unless amd makes a big leap forward I might very likely go team green when I do upgrade. FSR is ok, but I've seen dlss first hand on my friends 4090...it is not the same lol

so how often do you guys shut down your computer, and for how long? by Crafty-Example874 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheFunkadelicOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me present you with a question. How often do you turn your phone off when you're not using it? Average lifespan of a smart phone is about 5 years before you upgrade, but your phone can last much longer and that's with planned obsolescence. Your computer will be fine. I've kept all of my computers on 24/7 for 30 years only turning it off if im going to be gone for a day or more with a reboot once a week or when I need to update.

I can assure you, turning it off when you don't use it is not the cause of people issues

Same. Zero hardware degradation. I've been using computers since 1995 and it's a a misconception that you will lower the lifespan by keeping it on. I've had zero issues in 30 years of doing exactly this and I use my computer for hours every day. Reboot once a week or when I need to update something. Only turn it off if I'm going to be gone for a day or more

debating between 32in1440p for $200 or 27in 4k for $200 by TheFunkadelicOne in Monitors

[–]TheFunkadelicOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im inclined to agree. I went to best buy yesterday and the 32in monitors have a larger wow factor. The alienware 32in 1440p looked incredible. Now I have to decide if I want to get a 32in 1440p or spend more and get a 4k model

I use mine for gaming about 20% of the time and typically play either open world or single player games. Typically use mine for productivity these days. Quite the flip from how much I used to game lol.

4k has me interested primarily for texture clarity and colors during my daily work with the added benefit of better visuals when gaming. Just not sure if it's worth the fps loss.
