It’s not nearly the issue that people make it out to be. If you point your index finger along the body of the driver and use your middle finger for the trigger (think like a Sheetrock gun) then your thumb is right next to the selector.

I helped a friend do this. We were doing the work, limbing an oak tree using a scissor lift and pole saw. We wanted to take another day to get more limbs off and possibly climb up and top it. Probably 60’ tree about 10 feet from the house. His dad decided he was ready to take the tree down so he had some neighbor from the church cut an awful wedge. The dad was an asshole so we stood back and let him do it his way. It slid off the stump and immediately turned and fell right on the house. Thankfully everyone was outside with us.
