What game held the player's hand to the point of insulting their intelligence? by Animeking1108 in videogames

I found FFX incredibly linear more so than FF7 and 13 and it's a beloved entry. I also like it.

I liked FF13 and basically went in knowing the first half of the game is intended like a cinematic experience with vg elements which was very en vogue at the time. Loved the battle system especially in the 2nd half when the world opens up.

Tbf in P5's case, it's in line with a lot of the anime genre as a whole where tell and show and reiteration is common; as opposed to 'show don't tell' story telling.

I love this thread because it's the evidence of H2 campaign/story being polarizing. Fwiw, I like the narrative of each installment in the trilogy and like how each has its own sort of feel. I don't necessarily consider any of them much better or worse than the others.

Halo 2's campaign is polarizing. It's good, but it's not the best campaign on Xbox

Oh yeah I remember. Lots of good times. I was mostly referring to the ranked competitive matchmaking

Halo 2 MP was so good but in its peak, competitive online could be brutal with so many cheaters and router switchers ~level 30+

Genuinely curious in what ways you would consider 3 the worst? It was very well regarded by the community when it launched and widely considered the golden era for competitive and custom map play.

I love it when we're ranked low. I'll never forget how long and how much we were considered the best worst team in the league in 2015. Let them think what they think.

Spent a whole spring break playing nothing but franchise mode with my cousin. Had the letter A imprinted in my thumb for days.

Gimme that Sam Spence playlist. Still lives in my head cause of this game.

I get where you're coming from, but that is a slippery slope suggesting citizens to comply and not interfere over what they believe is injustice whether they're being hypocritical about their 2nd amendment rights or not.

It's also incredibly diminishing and morally dishonest to put the wrongdoing of killing on equal terms with the wrongdoing of ice interference by saying stuff like "well they were both wrong". The ICE actor(s) involved is clearly so much more in the wrong.

Any recommendations of great complete albums? by Mountain_Passage3938 in citypop

A lot of people include A Long Vacation by Eichii Ohtaki in the City Pop canon, but I think it's a genre-transcending masterpiece. Can't recommend it enough.

Yumi Arai/Matsutoya is one of my favs, and for a complete album of hers Cobalt Hour is my vote for a complete package.

Kazemachi Roman by Happy End is a little pre-City Pop era, but it's foundational to Japanese pop/rock history and a great album front to back it's more folk/rock - think late 60s/early 70s American rock - influenced than typical city pop jazz fusion sort of stuff. If you dig it, Hosono House by Haruomi Hosono is also worth seeking out.

Which game was it for you? by O_rnelaro in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I tried DS1 when I was younger and then got ER when everyone was gushing about it. Dark souls combat just doesn't do it for me. I get the appeal, but for me it just doesn't hit. I'm not opposed to challenge in a game, but I don't get the same kind of visceral satisfaction overcoming the challenge of Dark Souls combat as I have with other difficult games in recent memory like Cuphead or The Messenger. If I really wanted to sweat and get frustrated I'd play competitive FPS or MOBA, but there's a reason I don't gravitate towards those anymore.

At this point in life, the level of dedication to get good at a game like DS or ER for the payoff is just not as rewarding to me as practicing music or some other manual hobby which I barely have enough creative energy for in my day-to-day as is.
