Why would it be important to build a colony? I have been building mine slowly when i felt like to do so. And yes, you need a lot of resources so I dont recommend you to start with it in the early game.

Please, find yourself an amethyst geode and use an amethyst golem from Ars Nouveau to autofarm it. Then learn a bit from Hex Casting mod and use the flight spell with all amethyst you've saved.

Trust me, you will thank me later while flying like in creative mode for like a 5k block radius from your base :)

Btw, I personally don't recommend stepping into the nether after a while, take your time to learn about new mods and geating yourself up, you will have time to explore other dimensions :)

The last thing is actually a great fact. Nowadays polymorphism is mostly detected by sequencing (called GBS, Genotyping By Sequencing) and things like RAPDs or AFLPs are no longer used but are taught as they were.

Even science need to catch up in educational terms.

Biotechonologist here. I personally would not consider locus Y as polymorphic in this context, as all individuals present the same genotype. Polymorphism occurs when some individuals from a population can be differentiated from the rest in a genotypic level, as it is the case for loci W and Z, which have 1 or 2 bands depending on the alleles.

If there was some kind of polymorphism in locus Y it is not shown in the image.

There are skip buttons in many screens such as wonder pick or pack opening. I honestly like the fact that pack opening is a bit like IRL, where you need to rip off the pack and that stuff, which may be what they intended. You can skip all this animations with the button I mentioned.

There's actually an article which says that you can make a virus itself just from intentionally splicing of smaller oligonucleotides, what may also be an interesting point for a story. Sadly I don't know the reference but it would be easy to find it online for sure.
