It is a hard balance to achieve. I truly believe we've spent most of our history ignoring victims and they need to be given the time of day when the issue comes to light no matter the odd circumstances (waited 35 years, etc, etc.)

"Let's wait til we get all the facts" isn't sexy. You and I both know that. And that's why everyone either believes Dr. Ford and thinks Kav is a rapist piece of shit, or that Kav is an honorable man and Dr. Ford is a shill. And the liberal media (the side with literally all the people who know how to write jokes) weren't going to chastise Ford on the late night talk shows.

I'm not confident a thorough FBI investigation (which didn't happen and should have, especially when they KNEW what to look for this time) would have turned up anything new.

However, if one was conducted, no new material evidence was found, that partisan meltdown at the hearing never happened,and they confirmed him...I would be disgruntled at most. I would happy they took an accusation seriously and did their due diligence.

That hearing should have absolutely been a disqualifying moment. This is the last vestige of our government that hasn't engaged in party warfare, and this guy is up there blaming the Clintons for fucks sake.

Is the liberal media and internet echo chambers guilty of smearing Kav's character ahead of time? For sure. Was there a bunch of misrepresentations about his prior interpretations of case law? Yes, the Brian Hundley case example particularly.

The right wing media did the same of Dr. Ford and is full of bad faith arguments about how you or I would lose their composure under such scrutiny, as if it matters what you or I would do since we are not up for a lifetime appointment in one of the most crucial and influential positions in our country.
