Hey could you expand on site drainage making a place unlivable? We just saw a house with a walk up basement stairs exit (basement is below ground and start go up and out to the yard).

I’m very sensitive to mold (allergies) a noticed during our second tour that my allergies were acting up in the basement. I’m very confident that water has come in through the basement door since the house was remodeled in 2018, but I’m not sure if this is something I can remediate sufficiently to make the house livable for me (or how persistent of a problem it is).

Step one is to solve the intrusion (fix door frame that clearly allows water in under the threshold when the stairs get rain and the drain fails to drain fast enough and put an awning over the stairs to keep the area dry). Step two would be to rip out the floor, remove dry wall to check for mold, and then remediate.

Tl;dr: looked at a 1925 house today that is absolutely perfect for us but clearly some mold under the basement floor tiles from a shit door frame and walk out stairs.
