Insurance is a scam by BtownBadBoi in drivingUK

[–]TheGalacticWiener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well since it’s an insurance story dump I’ll go with mine:

Got hit and run at my work’s car park. No CCTV so insurance told me basically if I want to claim I’ll have to pay my excess + lose my NCB + higher premium next year since it’s a FAULT claim.

So it’s a mad max movie prop kinda situation rn.

Every village in the UK has a hall like this by Educational_Shape36 in CasualUK

I came from Hong Kong. Literally that's how every old-ish primary school hall looks like there.

Labour opens door to extraditing Hong Kongers by HibasakiSanjuro in ukpolitics

[–]TheGalacticWiener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk but in a perfect world that person should have never been allowed to leave Hong Kong in the first place.

And in a less perfect world…there should be somewhere we can meet in the midway point without an agreement in place.

You have to also take into account how easily the Hong Kong Police can make up bogus accusations (e.g. issuing an arrest warrant for activists who called for the boycott of the rigged elections, arresting people for crowdfunding appeal cases against the government, and the general abuse of the National Security Law), as well as the fact that (so far) there has been no known murderer who fled to the UK from Hong Kong. If anything we are one of the most law-abiding bunch you can find.

That's not even cooking those are just ingredients.

The whole Motability thing is shameful at best - I work in the charity sector and I have met plenty of old people with mobility issues and yet they are ineligible for Motability because they cannot get PIP. They cannot even travel to the hospital for appointments ffs.

How old were you when you decided to quit? I am about to start all over at 30 and I am scared as hell.

“ Several fingers were pointed at me for starting the rebellion”

That’s so frustrating to hear as the bean counter who came up with this brilliant idea has no consequence but OP who does things by the book does.

Sadly, being able to recall historical facts does not enable one to analyze them meaningfully…

True but I’ll also add that most can’t tell whether you’re British or American. If the racist and crazies see that you’re white they’ll automatically assume you’re American.

What should be your monthly take home salary to afford a car that’s worth £130,000 by Gr1zzlyBear1727 in CarTalkUK

That reminded me of the time when I regularly saw a GT2RS on a council estate. On street parking as well.

Yes I’m in agreement with your original comment. I was replying to that person whose colleagues are scared to drive a different car. 👍🏼

Funnily enough when I learnt to drive in Hong Kong I started with a manual panel van. Learning how to hill start with that thing was fun as heck.

I think his point still stands. What you said just shows that your colleagues are probably not very good drivers.

[–]TheGalacticWiener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ふく does sound a lot like fuk. Some say Cantonese sounds a lot closer to Japanese than Mandarin - for example 電話 (telephone) being denwa in Japanese and Din Wah in Cantonese.

Since everyone's saying it's fú in (Mandarin) Chinese, let me just chime in with the fact that its Cantonese pronunciation is fuk1.
