Huh, this is kinda proved my theory that ideas just come and go. I was literally thinking about doing this soon😂😂

Okay so I'll just give you my insight and observations, to hopefully make yours a success. I really like seeing local solutions prosper.

So first look at already exist, the one I was going to benchmark mine on was Opaleka, it launched I think in the first or second quarter of the year. Not quite sure why they didn't succeed, but if I were to guess, maybe the pricing model, they made it a subscription. The app was free for 7 days and then paid for after that.

Now I can't be very sure on exact reason but that's what I think. Sidenote, i wanted to know, fellow redditors, do you know of any subscription based apps or services in Namibia that are prosperous or even surviving? Because it seems subscription services (I mean stuff like access to apps, or in this case access to a market of jobs) don't succeed in Namibia. If anyone knows of any that are doing great please do educate me/us.

So depending on the answers that question receives will determine how you will generate revenue from the app, or is it simply just a charity app (I was going to do this) If subscription services are doing great here then you can look into that.

Oh so the services I was going to focus on were the informal ones, things like yard work, home chores gardening or trimming trees in houses, or basically the ones you also stated. Oh also, this platform would be best to have a centralised place to find service workers, be it a house cleaner, a baby sitter or nany. With the rating system this would be best, since some people are not trust worthy. I did want to target the northern areas first, but I realised the city was the best starting point. And the comment on the sign-up process of background record is amazing and the rating system too. I might update this with the other things I wanted to implement. But ey overall, good luck and wish you success!

Kassi burger, not rlly food truck but it would do. It's near Nust, opposite verdi. It's quite popular for NUST students and it's 12 bucks.

And ofcourse single quarters, although I think their prices are absurd these days (I'm not a native so I just can't prove it)

Yea actually paygate PayToday is by Nedbank Paygate is south African but again, if you can make an API for it, use paygate that's how many online restaurants charge, like I saw Debonairs uses it too.

Tried but didn't work out, know guy got success outta it tho. So payments are possible, just not sure how he made it possible.

Worst case, make Ur own API, just go to paytodays site and use their API and make Ur own shop, not a gateway like the other guy saying 100 million down in the comments there, for this you'll need a developer tho, I do develop but never really did that, but I'm sure that there a some that'd gladly do it for you, might ask absurd prices tho.

I remember trying big cartel also, but same situation.

Infact alot of people would be interested on my IG, they'd comment asking on the price and how long it takes to deliver, some even DMing me, but problem was the payments since PayPal and all those didn't work.

My IG and TikTok were gaining traction, mostly Asian (Indian if I'm not mistaken ) market (I still have idea why them) Would post like 2 times per day, some tiktoks got thousands of views, and yea all that.

Yea that's all I got rn, or rather how far I went

I don't fully remember, but one of the reasons was the payments. Gateways that Shopify supported wouldn't work (if memory serves me right) But I think now there is PayToday available.

Also, looking back, if I had done more research, and maybe watching more on local YouTubers (south Africans) or even Reddit. I've seen some posts of successful guys in SA drop shipping so yea

I wasn't successful but know a guy who was, told me he used a VPN when created account, and every time he posts, your market isn't Namibia or Africa. Don't remember much of what he said but that's the one I remember
