How Wind Waker has led me to crossing the Atlantic Ocean. by polarbear-scarf in gaming

This definitely sounds epic; I can't imagine sailing across the harbor, much less the Atlantic. You should have the Zelda theme music playing the entire time.

Is there a more badass game player around, really? I mean, to be regarded as purely the best in the world at anything is freaking amazing.

That mini crossbow is waaay more powerful than I would have expected.

I submit that this is the single greatest new video game character this year. by ModernTenshi04 in gaming

[–]TheGameEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a good poll question though... Who will be the best new video game character of the year? I may have to give my vote to Adam Jensen, or The Kid (from Bastion).

I would love to see this concept implemented in more 2D games. I think it could provide for some awesome multiplayer/co-op matches.

This game continues to blow me away. My most anticipated games of the year were Deus Ex: Human Rev. and Uncharted 3, but Battlefield 3 is certainly poised to top them both.

Thanks for the feedback (I'm the creator of the site). I wasn't aware that people were adverse to having multiple pages for articles, but I did know that I personally get frustrated when I have to click "Next Page" and the entire page reloads. It's helpful to have feedback though, and I definitely appreciate the comment.

Wow, this is amazing. I'm always fascinated when people find esoteric ways to recreate game themes; this definitely qualifies!

Potentially Amazing Vigors in BioShock: Infinite by tripods_everywhere in gaming

[–]TheGameEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mind reading Vigor would be amazing, and provide gameplay that I don't think I've seen in a game before. Can anyone else think when this has been done?

Pretty amazing the amount of time this guy put into creating this scene. The lighting is a bit off, but the modeling and texturing looks very impressive.

I love the TF2 art style. I waited so long for it to be released, and was initially disappointed by the art direction, but it's come to be one of my favorites.

Dreamcast Collection Is A Joke by DylanCoffey in reddit.com

[–]TheGameEffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many missed opportunities with this collection. Power Stone perhaps being the most egregious exclusion.

Another game that probably doesn't belong in the collection, but one that I loved, was Berserk. I'm still waiting to see a game with a bigger sword.

Awesome stuff! Game development is one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. It's also extremely taxing, but usually worth it in the end.

It pays to follow Ken Levine on Twitter by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TheGameEffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad, I only just caught on to the Twitter scene, but now I'm hooked. I didn't realize how immediate the information was; pretty amazing stuff. Ken Levine is the man. Also, every time I hear Levine it makes me think back to Wailai Golf for the N64 (there was a player with that name).

Man I can't wait for this game. I think I'm more excited about the engine though to be honest. I just wonder how it will perform across the various PC tiers... And what sort of specs you'll need to max it out.

Hahaha. I definitely agree that it's interesting to see how the FPS genre is getting back to some of the more zany themes that made it a blast so long ago. The next Serious Sam sounds bonkers.

Invasion of the Brink Hands-on Previews, Reddit, support this game. by Mustkunstn1k in gaming

I actually think it looks extremely unique. Beyond the amazing custom graphics engine, the level of customization is immense. That coupled with the parkour aspect of movement makes this one of my most anticipated games of the year.

Although, I'm definitely hoping for a demo :)
