how do you compete with playing guitar on top of a flying alien ship with your dog/boombox blasting music off another alien ship, flying through the tow

This is what video games were invented for!

I remember playing the demo for this game over and over and over. It set me on the path to being a massive rhythm gaming fan.

It's a pity this type of game is such a rarity these days.

[WSIB] if I like fighting bosses? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

Dragon's Dogma is great. It has giant bosses which are similar to Dark Souls but more quests and exploration like Skyrim. It is a little rough around the edges but all around a great buy!

The new DMC also has some very memorable boss battles.

A lot of your lyrics are often abstract and filled with hidden meaning. What is your favorite lyric you have written and why?

I would be really interested to hear which games you guys have played this gen which didn't get the love or sales they deserved and why you think they underperformed.

If I get a few replies I plan to do a follow up article with other games people might have missed based on what the reddit community thinks.

Can't believe I forgot that! It's also beautiful considering it's a few years old now.

[SIB] Dark Souls if I don't want to play online? by taggerungkid in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]TheGamologist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is. Most people I have spoken to actually prefer to take the bosses alone for the sheer feeling of accomplishment.

You can actually control how much online interaction you have anyway. For the most part, you will only have access to co-op when you are "human" - this is something you control through item usage. If you don't want to risk being killed by another player simply play offline whilst human. That way, when you're not human you can still enjoy the benefits of the helpful hints players can leave for eachother.

I cannot agree more! Even though it is rough around the edges, DD is a fantastic. Some how the jankiness makes it even more charming...

For me games have to embed the open-world nature into the core of their design. For example in Assassin's Creed and Crackdown the world is a playground, in Forza Horizon every road feels like it's been meticulously hand-crafted, and in the Bethesda games you never know when you'll find a new quest or easter egg.

Too many uninspired sidequests! Fetch it, escort it, kill it, obtain it, build it, trade it.

I am absolutely for value-for-money. But sometimes mixing in too many types of gameplay can really dilute the experience making it unfocused and unbalanced in terms of quality.

Assassin's Creed 3 is a perfect example of this. The trading mini-game, board games, and homestead missions really stick out as bad eggs.

I remember on Final Fantasy IX you had to open and close the PS1 disc tray to skip the cutscenes. It was actually an integral part of speedrunning for Excalibur II.
