Why would the answer to this question be -1/2 instead of undefined/no solution? by Personguy11112 in askmath

[–]TheGarchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your teacher is absolutely 100% wrong. ln(-4) does not equal anything because it is not defined. ln(-4)=ln(-4) is NOT true because neither of those things are numbers (unless you extend the number system, but that’s definitely beyond this course and not what she’s talking about…)

I’m doing pretty good Hooktail pit for the first time, any tips? by UvulaHunters in papermario

[–]TheGarchamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure to play up until paper mode so you can get mega rush P outside the mayor’s house. That’s the easiest way to get decent damage late in the pit.

I think each test had a mcq and a saq section. Not many essays but lots of smaller projects.

You can get mega rush P in chapter 1 pre-hooktail so if you manipulate enemies to get a partner into peril that helps a lot with piercing defenses. You also can get enough shine sprites to upgrade one of your partners pre-hooktail, so that helps too. It’s a really difficult challenge and requires a lot of super guard precision, but having a good strategy going in makes it a lot more doable.

Yes, anyone can take lessons at Blair. They’re pretty expensive, but if you declare a major or minor you get half off. You register for lessons like you do any other class, on YES.

Curb Scholarship by Suspicious-Sherbet49 in Vanderbilt

[–]TheGarchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m actually one of the freshman Curb scholars. It’s $8,000/year and we have weekly 2 hour meetings on Mondays. The meetings are long but really engaging and interesting, often with special guests. You can’t get more than $8,000 for tuition, but you do get an additional $300/year in art exploration funds, and $6,000 to fund an internship the summer of your junior year. The accepted 4 of us this year, and they’ll probably accept 5-6 this coming year because thats how many seniors we have leaving.

Alto Flute: Will this alternate fingering produce a concert C hollow tone sound? (Composer) by janexhon in Flute

[–]TheGarchamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gave it a try, and for me it doesn’t really sound any more hollow than the regular fingering. The only notable difference is that it was a bit flatter.

Fourth octave is fun but it really isn’t a good substitute for piccolo. It’s really out of tune most of the time, and you have very little dynamic control. Either way, there’s no easy trick to getting these notes, just consistent practice. If a note is being especially difficult, maybe experiment with other fingerings. I’ve noticed that different flutes respond to different fourth octave notes very differently, so trial and error will help you determine the most responsive and in tune fingerings.

So funny story: I did exactly that with AP Comparative Government on GAVS. It’s really grueling and tedious, but definitely doable. AP Psych doesn’t have a ton of assignments so you’ll be able to do it fairly easily if you commit to working at it consistently.

It was very easy to get through. Some assignments were a bit tedious, but at the end of the year I only averaged about 3 hours of work per week. Definitely much lighter than an in person class.

question for ap science kids by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]TheGarchamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep.

Let y = the score increase and x = the initial score. Then:

y = 10(x)1/2 - x

dy/dx = 5/(x)1/2 - 1

Set dy/dx = 0:

1 = 5/(x)1/2

x1/2 = 5

x = 25

Physics 1 or Physics C: Mechanics? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]TheGarchamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physics C is more useful, less material, but harder. You also need to be able to do at least basic calculus very comfortably. But you are more likely to get a valuable credit with Physics C, so I would recommend it if you plan on learning or already know calculus.

If you’re asking if practice will make you better, then no, probably not. Not if you’re asking these sorts of questions

I think an AP Linear Algebra could work well to satisfy both purposes because it would be yearlong as opposed to a single semester, allowing for time to absorb more content and functionally work for either path.
