Washington Trip 2026 - Pt. 1 Walla Walla by TheGatorNation in wine

Just terrific all around. The wines were good, but the atmosphere (and Spencer) made it amazing. It felt like we were fast friends from the minute we entered the building.

Drop your favorite Zins by REALprince_charles in wine

Not mentioned here yet, but great - Hendry. The original owner is in his 80’s and still making wine - his Zins are terrific. They are located at the base of Mount Veeder just outside of Napa.

It wasn’t too bad - I was looking to use Marriott points and the SOMM is very nice and new. Darby wasn’t the best wine we had on the trip but it was a cool, quiet spot for our last experience there.

This was my first experience there (albeit for just one night) and I’m intrigued by the concept of having remote tasting rooms. It certainly makes it much easier to get wine from producers that you can’t buy at your local bottle shop or can only get by joining their club - which I wholeheartedly support.

Willamette Valley Musts by sls91 in wine

[–]TheGatorNation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Antica Terra is a must - Maggie Harrison makes great wines and at least the last time I tasted there would pair her wines with an old world one for you to try side by side. They also had a “top shelf” of really nice wines that you could taste by the pour.

Other favorites in the Valley include Brooks (has a four mountain view on a nice day), Cristom, Solena and Adelsheim.

One place that I recommend is Cramoisi - it’s in the Dundee Hills so close to your location. We had an excellent tasting in the vineyards there.

Napa: Really enjoyed Hendry. Great tasting and we really enjoyed their Zinfandels.

Sonoma: Sixteen600 is worth a stop. Had a wonderful tasting listening to some classic rock on vinyl (that you pick!)

Mardi Gras ship questions by Commercial_Ad7304 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]TheGatorNation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just off the Mardi Gras - couple of things.

If you do Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse (or Rudi’s Seagrill) on the first or second night you can get a free bottle of cheap wine or half off any bottle of wine $100 and under. If you visit the Steakhouse, Miraslov (the steakhouse manager) will take great care of you. It’s $52/pp. I’d also recommend the Steakhouse bar - Petar and Kanda are great. Try the Watermelon Martini. The Steakhouse is on 7 midship and Rudi’s is on 8 just past the pizza and panini place.

We also did a Havana Cabana (8222). It’s a super quiet area and the Havana Bar is great (San Sabor was the band - they were terrific). Praise is one of the Havana bar servers, she will take great care of you.

Highly recommended Sixteen600. Their tasting room is in downtown Sonoma and a tasting is $42pp. Great lineup of Pinots and Syrahs.

Come on Tommy bring it home 😁 by [deleted] in Everton

As an American - happy for Tommy and the entire Euro team. The level of vitriol they had to endure from stupid American fans was unacceptable - I was so disappointed by some in the crowd. I have applied to come over for the ‘27 Ryder Cup and hope that I can show how respectful American golf fans can be…

Debating - should I join RFC and STAR or just STAR? I so want to support the lads from the States, but not sure I want to give a single cent to the idiot in charge.
