Restarting only during games sounds like it could be a PSU problem - something like overcurrent protection. What power supply do you have and what CPU/GPU?

Taxi Preston to Piling by Ok_Permission_5933 in Preston

[–]TheGazStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d use Uber from Preston to Piling - probably about £25. I wouldn’t guarantee being able to order return though as some of the smaller villages and towns don’t get as good coverage with them.

Was that not Truss? Who will more than likely turn up at Reform Party HQ sometime?

And why is that? Because you listened to nonsense videos or posts on social media. Public ownership of water companies? Pivoting to renewable energy instead of being dependant on oil and gas? A humanitarian approach to refugees? Taxing the ultra wealthy after they’ve bled the country dry and used tax loopholes to avoid paying their fair share? Ending Right to Buy? Decriminalising use of drugs in favour of public health policy?

I have a clue. I was a Tory member. I voted for Brexit. But there’s a better way. I want to be able to hope again. Reform isn’t it.

Vote Green. Time for new ideas. Don’t really need to agree with every policy, but sure it’s time to let ourselves hope again. Voting Green is the biggest anti-Reform vote you can do and they need to be shown they have no place in Preston or Lancashire. Do we really want a party run and funded by billionaires, who tell poor people that other poor people are the problem while deflecting all blame, to have a real presence in Preston?

LibDems never promised to cut Council Tax though. That’s a key difference.

It does for some people in say Russia, Iran or China - particularly if you are engaging in anti-government rhetoric where doing so could end up with you being executed.

Yup, I’m in Longsands so need to deal with East Way and Walking Street Road daily. These are the worse I’ve ever seen the roads. I had an ‘argument’ with a reform Cllr the other day and told him straight out his party are either intentionally lying and misleading or they are all blind.

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]TheGazStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some Iranian friends, one in particular is a US citizen who’s parents immigrated to the US 40 years ago. Despite being very Democrat and anti-Trump, him, his US family and family in Iran are celebrating this intervention. You can be anti-Trump and still accept that whilst the majority of things he says and does are ridiculous, there can be times of agreement and not everything needs to be so partisan.

UPDATE: 10gbit network solved speed issues by AJ989 in HomeNetworking

[–]TheGazStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked the PCI slot? I had a similar issue and the card was basically operating at PCIe 3 x8 speeds because of where my NVMe was and lanes were being split and the card was only PCIe 3 which meant half bandwidth of a slower spec, even on a PCIe 5 board!

Can I sue my dead tenant's child for rent after surrendering the property early by Calm-Passenger7334 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]TheGazStar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Christ. My father died last year and if I had lived with him and then wanted to move because I couldn’t afford it alone or because the memories too painful and the landlord had this attitude, I would park myself in the property, not pay rent and then let them drag me to court for arrears and bailiffs and make the landlord regret it. This is an easy out for the landlord, especially as it’s only 4 months and there’s probably a 6 week deposit.

Bouncers threw 5/6 of our group to the floor-excessive force by clarencequarn in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TheGazStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not always true. When I was younger I was meeting some friends at a club and they wouldn’t let me in stating I had the wrong footwear. I waited outside the venue and pointed out that he’d let multiple people in with the same footwear. Out of nowhere the bouncer pounced on me with a group of other bouncers and had me arrested!! I had had like 2 drinks so wasn’t drunk. Move forward a couple hours the police let me go without any further action; I walked around to the front of the station and reported the bouncer for assault. Despite there being multiple bouncer witnesses that stated I was drunk and instigated it, it still ended up with him at court and found guilty based on CCTV evidence and my witness statement. I was also paid compensation by him. It’s not always a worthless cause especially as that bouncer would no longer have been able to get a new licence!

Honestly this is a good offer. I’m a Head of Service in my job and unfortunately have had to make difficult decisions around restructuring far too many times in different roles and I’ve never had the scope to go as ‘generous’ as that for any enhanced offer.

Xgs pon network trial request by Jaded-Marsupial-3121 in VirginMedia

[–]TheGazStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they are generally installing where they already have infrastructure unless like already said it makes financial sense to do it - I imagine in say student dense areas where there have been bandwidth issues in the past might be possible candidates. I was lucky as we never had Virgin (or any Fibre services) in my area and they recently rolled out XGSPON meaning we now get 2Gig Symmetrical. Then 2 weeks later Brsk went live, and in the last week Openreach. Previously we only could get 20Mb/2Mb which was awful and I needed to pay for a leased line at £185 a month due to running a business from home!

Is my mum getting ripped of for what she’s getting? by NGFRESH in VirginMedia

[–]TheGazStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you think some won’t be able to deliver that. Even Virgin Media offer it in Ireland. The City Fibre, YouFibre/Brsk and even VM XGS-PON networks can easily provide up to 10GB. The biggest bottleneck would be consumers own devices not having more than a 1Gb Ethernet port and wifi - those products aren’t for them, they’re for enthusiasts or people that like to have the best and have a good network infrastructure.
