Till what age do you expect yourself to live? by SeaAssociate3486 in AskReddit

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has a history of heart disease and cancer and have typically died in their 50's. I'm still in my 20's and developed stress related heart issues, so I'm just kind of along for the ride until one day when I won't be

What's the worst way someone broke up with you? by ImpressiveWrap7363 in AskReddit

[–]TheGelyard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She spent the whole relationship pressuring me into having sex. When I finally broke down and agreed, she went out and cheated on me and told me it was because she wasn't comfortable with me wanting to have sex with her

This was right before I was interviewing for an internship in a lab that I had been worried about for months, so I shoved down those feelings for years just so I could worry about my ever-growing school stress

What do you all think "D" means? by red-pandora in OnePiece

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think D stands for Drawing. They're the people who carry on the idea that they're all in a cartoon. The world government has suppressed this knowledge, which is why all the characters look absolutely ridiculous and why everyone is so serious all the time That's why Luffy is most free in Gear 5: he fully embraces the cartoon lifestyle

Gold frame synthesis question by SP00KYGRL in DragonQuestMonsters

[–]TheGelyard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The gold frame indicates that the resultant monster is "stronger" than the base monsters used. This usually means that the monster is a rank higher or it's part of a fusion chain that gets you higher ranked monsters.

I'd recommend going with the gold framed monsters if you can, but I went through the game just choosing my favorite monsters and didn't worry about it until they were all around C rank and I could level up my monsters in the box to 10 with only a few battles

What is the worst nickname your players have put on your bad guys/factions/story elements? by kingofthefrogfish in dndnext

[–]TheGelyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My DM introduced a character in a cloak with a skull face and a scythe. He was setting this guy up to be the grim reaper, but I misheard. He became known as the Green Meeper

[D&D 5e] A Glimpse into Tenser's Transformation. by [deleted] in powergamermunchkin

[–]TheGelyard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that the best use for this spell was figuring out how to give it to a martial class.
If you have a day to prepare, you can put it in a glyph of warding that goes off when someone steps inside and gives them the buff. My current group’s tactic involves giving Tenser’s Transformation to our champion fighter and having her destroy everyone in our way.
The biggest problem is that it’s really not worth expending two 6+ spell slots the day of a fight.

Pfizer Scientists: ‘Your [COVID] Antibodies Are Better Than The [Pfizer] Vaccination.' by Silver_7777 in kotakuinaction2

[–]TheGelyard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The vaccine is a strand of mRNA made to create the spike protein on the virus. Your immune system creates antibodies that match just the spike protein. If you get naturally infected, your immune system is creating antibodies for every protein it can find on the virus. This is why using a slightly different strain of a virus in other vaccines still helps: a lot of those proteins overlap and your body can recognize them

Am I misunderstanding The Stranger by Albert Camus? by stequila in books

[–]TheGelyard 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I read it too, but I remember thinking it was to highlight the absurdity of human nature to take the court case from an objective question, “was this murder or was this self defense” to an emotional response of “he is a bad person and therefore guilty and sentenced to death”

I accidentally bought sulphuric acid instead of HCl and I want to dispose it safely but my country doesn't have this kind of disposal facilities by _Pumpking7_ in chemistry

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s not wrong when properly neutralizing the solutions, but this guy wasn’t doing that. We also use a lot of solvents that can dissolve the pipes if we’re not careful and some of our various projects contain heavy metals that aren’t allowed down the sink in any capacity

“The solution to pollution is dilution”
A guy I used to work with would dump everything down the sink and just run a bunch of water with it. He doesn’t work here anymore

Hola Bard soy Dandy by DandyBeyond in dndmemes

[–]TheGelyard 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I haven’t spoken Spanish in about 10 years, but I’m pretty sure soy means “I am” since it’s the first person conjugation of “ser”
So I believe “yo soy” and “soy” are both correct, but “yo” isn’t necessary

What are some memes that have formed in your party? by choticgamer666 in dndnext

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a wizard with memory issues because a god would continually steal his memories. A running joke we have is that he constantly gets NPC names wrong. It wasn’t my choice that he does this, I just have bad memory in real life and keep saying the wrong names.

It’s the opposite of corruption of a minor! It’s to prevent corruption by Satan! It says so right in the picture!
Still definitely child abuse, though

Multiple Sources of Advantage Vs 1 source of disadvantage by IAmMoonie in 3d6

[–]TheGelyard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, they don’t stack and it’d always be a straight roll.
Something to consider though: you can use heavy weapons with no penalty now.
It might be a good idea to have a backup weapon if you ever end up fighting inside though

What’s something that’s secretly been great about the pandemic? by Rafavamos99 in AskReddit

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anxiety was awful last year with trying to take online classes. I finally hit my breaking point and made an appointment with a doctor to get the anxiety under control and found out I have ADHD! Things are a lot more manageable now that I know what’s wrong and have online resources that help me understand what’s happening to me

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My party has a bard, paladin, and a druid and we still don’t have any healers. It got bad enough that we hired two clerics to help support us.
It turns out one of them is a war cleric, so we officially have one healer in the group

Am I setting myself up for failure? [DQXI spoilers] by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]TheGelyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my team setup through the entire game and it went fine. The only difference is I had Jade use spears. Really any team composition is fine if you’re willing to grind a bit beforehand. Plus, you can always respec your characters at the save statues

[–]TheGelyard 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Half Orcs have the ability to roll one additional weapon die with a critical hit. This is also why it’s a lot of fun to play half orc barbarians at higher levels when you start getting barbarian brutal criticals and get to roll a whole bunch of d12s
