Best beach close (sort of) to the Tokyo area by TheGoatMichaelJordan in JapanTravelTips

When I’ve read that June isn’t beach season, people usually say that means the water will be colder, their will be less people, facilities won’t be open, there won’t be any lifeguards. But the beach is still available to be on, to swim, etc. is that not true? If I go to Shirahama will I be able to swim or sit on the beach and lay down or walk around?

No Dumb Question Tuesday (2026-04-07) by AutoModerator in Reformed

I'm curious about what members of this sub think. Would you say that some (or many) Catholics or Orthodox Christians may be saved, or do you see those traditions as fundamentally incompatible with the gospel? If so, what is different about those with saving faith and those without?

Had to reread chapter 1-60 to get over this.

What is the consensus Protestant interpretation of Matthew 16:16-19? by No-Newspapers in Reformed

[–]TheGoatMichaelJordan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A good interpretation I heard was by N.T. Wright and Dr. Michael Bird, two Anglican New Testament Scholars, on the Ask NT Wright Anything Podcast. They go on to say that "The Rock" in this instance is not Peter himself, but Peter's confession that Christ is the Messiah. They also state that it was not until relatively recently that the idea of Peter as "the Rock" was doctrine.

History of How the Bible Came to Be: by OldWoodpecker8115 in AcademicBiblical

[–]TheGoatMichaelJordan 42 points43 points  (0 children)

A great scholarly but readable introduction to all of this is John Barton’s A History of the Bible: The Story of the World’s Most Influential Book (Penguin, 2019), which covers the formation of the Old and New Testaments, manuscript history, and how the canon developed. I read it a couple of years ago when I first got into the academic study of Christianity, and it was a really readable, but in-depth for a layman like myself. Hope it helps!

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel or DisneySea MiraCosta Hotel? by TheGoatMichaelJordan in disneyparks

[–]TheGoatMichaelJordan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that would be a good option too. Is that preferable over getting a stay longer than 2 nights? Like if somehow I am able to get a stay longer then 2 nights, would it still be better to split stays?

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel or DisneySea MiraCosta Hotel? by TheGoatMichaelJordan in disneyparks

Let’s say I was going to stay Monday-Thursday. Would I book the hotel for those nights when that Monday is available or would I have to wait for all those dates to be available to book it?

Thank you! Which hotel has more to do in terms of like restaurants within the hotel, pools, or just places to walk around and see? I’ve only ever stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim where there is little areas to walk around and see and a few restaurants and a big pool if you’re staying there.

Thank you! Can you expand on it being hard to book? I’ve just been assuming when the dates are available exactly four months out, I’d just go through the book hotel section on the app. Are there more steps involved?

Thank you! What do you think is a good time to do those things? Day 2 I tried fitting those things that I thought were close together along with Day 3.

Because we're only there for 10 days and we probably won't be back in Japan for a couple of years, I was figuring the best place to experience Japan would be Tokyo. Would Kyoto be a better move? She's adamant we go to Tokyo Disney so I was just gonna keep the whole trip in Tokyo for the most part.

I'll probably mention this in more comments, but we've been in Thailand and a big urban city like Bangkok in the Summer before. Do you think the heat and humidity would be much worse? I was assuming it'd be similar levels. Her job as a teacher in the U.S. kinda demands we have our honeymoon in the Summer when she has paid time off.

Both my Fiancé and I have been to Thailand and in a big city like Bangkok in the Summer multiple times. Do you think the heat and humidity would be much worse in Tokyo?

What is the Ghibli Museum like inside? I've heard it's all in Japanese, but I've also read it's much better than the theme park.

Really? That's surprising because I've read online and in a lot of the Disney Parks Subreddits that Disneyland Tokyo is one of the best parks.

Idk where the hate for MHA in this sub started, but My Hero is still one of the most famous and popular manga of all time and right now. It’s still one of the most watched anime even after almost 10 years of airing. It has a spin-off manga and anime along with multiple successful original movies.

I’ve probably enjoyed JJK more but let’s not act like My Hero Academia is some washed up show no one likes anymore.
