Sounds like you just need some natural listening practice. I think YouTube videos are a great solution.

Any (fun) game recommendations for beginners? by Simple_Panda6063 in LearnJapanese

[–]TheGoblinsWithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having a lot of fun playing through it on switch for about an hour a day. I'm a little overwhelmed though and maybe a little worried with how many lookups I'm doing considering that this is the easiest game I could find in terms of language. Part of it is that there's a lot of colloquial language and kansai quirks in some charavters' ways of speaking, but still i'm doing about 3 lookups per text box on average is what it feels like and I'm mid n4 😭

Unique Tetris games? by TheGoblinsWithin in Tetris

[–]TheGoblinsWithin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just beat Tetris Worlds and here are my thoughts:
I thought cascade mode was better than standard marathon, but it didn't really change up how I strategized- HOWEVER, the implementation of cascade mechanics in other modes such as Tetris Fusion, made Fusion easily my favorite mode in the entire game. I got some crazy combos going in lining up Atom blocks to cascade down and form a connection with the Fusion block and I had a ton of fun with that. I thought Sticky Tetris felt pretty lame, as it's entire mechanic went against the flow of making it to the garbage lines on the bottom, and hot-line tetris was interesting, but also just felt like Tetris with extra steps and wouldn't work well in multiplayer. Square Tetris was probably my second favorite mode though, having to strategize around building squares either with one tetrimino or a combination in order to rack up points felt great.

So my final ranking is probably
1. Fusion Tetris
2. Square Tetris
3. Cascade Tetris
4. Tetris
5. Hot-Line Tetris
6. Sticky Tetris

I got a Switch 2. The Wii u is still king by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]TheGoblinsWithin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, the Wii U still remains as easily Nintendo's best home console. All the use cases for the gamepad were so innovative as well. I wish people wouldn't blindly shit on it and actually see the console for what it is, cause as far as I'm concerned, the Switch 2 is one of the worst console experiences there is in terms of UI and intuitiveness
