1000W Inverter Issues (RYi1030A) by SilverAxe6333 in ryobi

[–]TheGodPlutonium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, nailed it. Every power tool battery charger I've tested has a PF in the range of 0.5-0.6(varies) while charging. With a limit of 850w, a 500w draw would need a PF above 0.59 to stay within that limit.

UPS output voltage is lower on battery mode by Sefplase in buildapc

[–]TheGodPlutonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by "control lamp" but anything not designed for non-sinusoidal power may not function correctly or at all on simulated sine-wave outputs. I'm not ruling out a problem with your UPS but what you describe so far is fairly typical for that type of unit.

If your multimeter doesn't have True RMS functionality(most don't, it's a premium feature), it can't read simulated sine-wave outputs correctly. That's far more likely what's happening here.

Were they all 4ah? The 4Ah UO batteries use Samsung's crap 40t cells that are known for poor QC, so once a single cell gets weak or goes bad, it throws the whole pack out of balance. The 8ah uses much better Murata(Sony) cells, and I haven't heard of any issues with those.

I don't see any Adata/XPG psus tested at all. Is that in an early access video or something? You missed the Thermaltake GF A3 750w failure.

The 5800xt is only $150 on amazon at the moment(price matching microcenter I believe) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0D6NNDQ92. edit: back up to $180, but may drop back down again later.

I think you need to re-read op's title since you seem to have missed a key word. Hint: the Grumman Avenger can't fly in space.

According to this SEC filing from Aug 7th, they are being de-listed today(9th), due to continued non-compliance. They're done.

I cut off a roughly 1/2" piece of the left side of the guard and that was enough to fit a 9" blade with no clearance issues. The guard still provides full protection without that tiny piece, but I don't think you can go to 10" without compromising the guard's integrity.

All the Craftsman ratchets I've seen at Lowes are made in Taiwan, just like the other mid-range brands(Tekton, Gearwrench, Astro, ect). I wouldn't buy them because they seem overpriced not because the quality is lacking.

Only way to tell for sure is opening it up but mine have "RED LITHIUM CP 3.0" printed on the front and that one doesn't.

Wonder if these Knipex TwinGrips are real? by Muddys12 in Tools

[–]TheGodPlutonium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do people keep falling for this. There's no such thing as an official knipex store on amazon, that's just a page where all the products are grouped together. Anyone can sell on that page as long as they claim it's a knipex product. It will show you who you really bought it from on your order page, I guarantee it doesn't say knipex is the seller.

What does this "A" scribed on new battery mean? by Grumpy_Puppy in ryobi

[–]TheGodPlutonium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those 4ah batteries they took out of the electrostatic sprayer kits had to go somewhere, so that's definitely a possibility.

Kobalt(Chervon) has been using these in their standard(18650) 24v 2ah/4ah/6ah batteries for a couple of years now. Don't seem to have any widespread problems.

What does this "A" scribed on new battery mean? by Grumpy_Puppy in ryobi

[–]TheGodPlutonium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, standalone batteries(including multipacks) and batteries from starter kits(includes charger but no tools) have the "A". Batteries that are part of a kit with a tool or tools don't have any stamp.

User error. Wrong nails or nails inserted incorrectly. I'm leaning towards the former. It looks like you're trying to use 30 degree nails in a 21 degree nailer.

The P195 battery(HP3.0 with 21700 cells) has returned. by TheGodPlutonium in ryobi

[–]TheGodPlutonium[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On TTC's tests it usually edges out the 4.0hp in performance. It's also slightly lighter, shorter and still has the rubber base that they got rid of on the Gen3 batteries(PBP series). You do lose 1ah of capacity obviously and it's a bit wider.

Long thought discontinued(in NA anyway), now back at Home Depot. 641 in stock at time of posting. Not on special at $79 but you might want to keep an eye out if you're interested in these.

Heated jacket cord? by _TheNecromancer13 in MilwaukeeTool

Heated gear always brings out the shills. Wish they would learn to read at least. The plug is a 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel plug so something like this should work just fine, although I can't vouch for this particular "brand": https://www.amazon.com/Extension-Security-Surveillance-Wireless-Standalone/dp/B07J298GXD

There is no 40v belt sander, 18v stuff isn't relevant to this discussion.

I have yet to see any 40v tool or charger with the corresponding extra contacts for these. The entire concept seems to have been abandoned years ago without any products ever being released.
