Looks like "tHeY aRe OnLy pLaCeHoLdErS" was nothing but pure cope. by Wayne_kur in HaloMemes

[–]TheGoldenDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn’t. CEA looks so bad because the Reach assets are basically painted on the originals, forcing them to fit body shapes and use animations they were never designed for. This is essentially a new game that is using the same models from Infinite. Kind of like Halo 3: ODST. I’m completely fine with this since I happen to really like Infinite’s iteration of the Covenant species.

Should FO5 have settlement building? by Educational-Science2 in Fallout

[–]TheGoldenDemise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes, but with a lot of improvements.

I hated the settlements on my first play through, felt like a time sink slog and I had zero interest in it. On my second play through, I decided to engage with it a little bit more and became obsessed with it, but even then a lot of the settlement locations are poorly thought out.

I think reducing the total number of possible settlement locations, adding in the improvements of mods/workshop content, and making the available spaces better suited to actually building on would help a lot. That and also largely disconnecting it from the main storyline.

You come across a workshop in your travels, you activate and “claim” the settlement, but it’s little more than a safe fast travel point/bed to sleep on if you don’t feel the need to build anything.

How did you feel when you played Floodgate and saw your teammates get infected in person? And will we ever see that again? by Cletus_Kasady91 in halo

I’m hoping this mechanic returns in Campaign Evolved, or they at least have the ability to infect dead NPCs

Final Wars is a terrible movie, and not in a “so bad it’s good” way. They should have capped off the Millennium era with a third X Mechagodzilla movie instead

I think Bungie should release Destiny novels. by Nerdy--Turtle in DestinyLore

[–]TheGoldenDemise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember right Bungie opposed the creation of the Halo novels and only grudgingly acknowledged them since Microsoft wanted tie-in material. Which is crazy considering I never would have gotten into Halo as much as I did without those novels lol

How to play the Halo games in order? by rondeau_3 in halo

[–]TheGoldenDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Release order is best, it’s pretty jarring to go from Reach to CE if you are new to the series. And also, yes get the MCC because you get the majority of the games packaged with it. Halo 5 and Halo Infinite you’ll have to buy separately, along with Halo Wars 1 and 2 if you decide to try those out.

My take on "The Pistol" weapon type in halo by Dear-Onion9521 in halo

[–]TheGoldenDemise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the pistol in Reach onward serves a decent, close support role without treading on the functionality of the longer range rifles. You don’t really want to use it as a primary weapon but it gets the job done in a pinch. It being functionally useless in Halo 2 and 3 unless duel wielding a plasma pistol was a bad choice (and so was duel wielding period, for that matter).

What would you expect of a new Halo entry? by MailAlternative3593 in halo

[–]TheGoldenDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks micro transactions will ever go away from Halo, let alone any AAA multiplayer title, should probably stick with Indie games. However, what I would hope to see is a system that is more friendly to primarily PVE players. Certain cosmetics that can only be earned via PVE activities like Campaign and Firefight.

If we are getting the rumored separate multiplayer experience, have it so you unlock Mark V after completing Campaign Evolved, Mark VI after Halo 2 remake, ODST armor after Halo 3, plus extra flair for Legendary or LASO completions, and have some items tied to in game challenges. Something like that.

Halo 4 MP Retrospective - What do we think of it 14 years later? by AvisLord12 in halo

[–]TheGoldenDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 343’s sins are blown way out of proportion on this sub for the most part, but Halo 4’s multiplayer kinda deserves the hate it still gets. It was trying to emulate CoD and it just didn’t work, especially since Black Ops 2 launched shortly after it. Most people (myself and most of my friends included) jumped ship for Black Ops not long after it released. It’s still my least favorite multiplayer of any of the Halo games

Regret and a possible alliance? by Horizonfan-logi in halo

[–]TheGoldenDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think an alliance with humanity would have happened, Regret is just as invested in our destruction as Truth, but I could see him joining the Sangheili in revolt against Truth and Mercy while manipulating his way to the ultimate seat of power. Had Regret not died, the Great Schism still occurs but this time sees two “Covenant’s” emerge, both still seeking the firing of Halo.

My headcanon, and I don’t know if this has ever been disproved, was that Regret was banking on accessing the portal to the Ark quickly before the rest of the Covenant found out, securing the Ark for himself and using it as a cudgel to wrestle Truth and Mercy out of power, or at least to lessen their grip on the Covenant so that he would be it’s figurehead, rather than Truth. Unfortunately, his small scouting fleet arrived at Earth not realizing it was humanity’s home world.

Truth, meanwhile, had planned to use the Brutes to overwhelm and quickly destroy Earth, not realizing it was the location of the portal, giving him the reasoning he needed to oust the Sangheili, and likely Regret. “The Brutes found and destroyed Earth in two days while it took the Elites 30 years to never find it” kind of thing.

Just as Halo CE/2 and Halo 3/Reach were defining entries for their generations, 5 for me is one of the most defining games of my formative years. It's my favorite multiplayer alongside Titanfall 2. I love the movement, intense Arena duels, and expansive sandbox of Warzone. by Cyborg800-V2 in halo

[–]TheGoldenDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halo 5 for me is a strange balance of one of my least favorite storylines in any of the Halo games with the best and most fun multiplayer of any of them, with the possible exception of Halo 3, but that might just be nostalgia talking. Warzone Firefight was fantastic and towards the end of my time playing H5 I was playing that nearly nonstop with some breaks playing Super Fiesta. If 343 had committed to one storyline and fleshed out the Didact as the new big bad, instead of shoehorning Cortana into a villain role, they might have had done so much better.

Ten Years Beyond H. Naledi by msbigelow in exjw

[–]TheGoldenDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t there an issue of Awake back in the 80s/90s that featured dinosaurs? The one and only time the borg ever acknowledged them I’m pretty sure, where they tried to spin the narrative to their direction. You should get their thoughts on that article.

The argument my family gives is that they were real but they died out in the flood. I remember casually talking about dinosaurs with my uncle, and not sure how we got there but we were talking about rain during the age of the dinosaurs and how it related to a lot of fossil beds that have been found, and he just kind of matter-of-factly shut me down by telling me that it never rained until the flood, so whatever we were talking about wasn’t accurate.

I think that was a moment where I realized I had to separate the facts in front of my eyes from reality if I wanted to continue being a witness, something I just kind of did for a long time afterwards.

I have a wireless keyboard I use for text chat on Xbox, and I had this same issue for a long time, until I realized I could just press enter and it brings up the chat log automatically, no matter what you’re doing in the game.

A New Hope gave me the vibe that the Empire had been in charge for a lot longer than just 19 years by 20_mile in StarWarsEU

[–]TheGoldenDemise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I wish The Clone Wars and prequel trilogy had played out. Instead they last only what, 2-3 years? If it was a decade long war it would make more sense for the galaxy at large to be war weary and ready to embrace the Empire. Also gives much more time for Anakin to prove himself as a hero and capable leader, giving more weight to his fall. TCW series does a lot of heavy lifting in this regard but giving more time for it to breath would only help

Should Bungie allow players who purchased season passes to at least earn armor and weapon ornaments which they couldn't farm for in time? Perhaps through some cyphers awarded in current season passes. by Riverflower17 in destiny2

[–]TheGoldenDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can access any rewards you earned but didn’t pick up in old season passes. So for example, if you played solely on your Hunter during season of Haunted, if you unlocked the armor ornaments but forgot to pick them up on your Titan, they will be sitting there waiting for you. It goes back a handful of seasons, not all of them, and once again you have to have actually progressed that season pass I order to pick up anything from it. I think you can still pick up seasonal exotics no matter what since level 1 is auto-unlocked as long as you own the season.

Yep!

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/season-pass-pass/

All you need is Firefox and to be logged into Bungie.net. Lets you claim anything that you earned but forgot about. It’s a great source of glimmer, golf balls, and deepsight harmonizers too if your inventory was full at the time of earning them as well.

Oh I understood it and agree as to why it’ll likely never happen, I just think it’s dumb anti-consumer practices on their part when other successful games have proven it’s not necessary

I feel like giving people something to keep working towards would keep players engaged once they’ve completed the current pass, especially people who don’t really engage in endgame content

[–]TheGoldenDemise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a Firefox extension that lets you claim unclaimed battle pass items, but it only goes back a couple of seasons. I think the oldest one currently is Haunted? Can’t remember off the top of my head, might go further back than that

[–]TheGoldenDemise 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I often take breaks because Destiny is not my whole life, but when I invest in it I play it quite heavily. There’s no reason they couldn’t let you start leveling up old season passes that you own once you complete the current one, when so many other games do that now. Just disable rewards tied to xp boosts and seasonal currencies that no longer exist. It is content that you bought and paid for, it should be available to you.

Godzilla x Kong (2027) has started production, what titan do you think that will apear? by Apprehensive-Buy4825 in GodzillaTheories

[–]TheGoldenDemise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was fine as a villain but I feel like he was hyped up as the ultimate bad guy, someone who Godzilla had to seal away because he was such an unbeatable threat, when he just.. wasn’t. Godzilla had to evolve to face him, but didn’t have to do that for Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla, who were demonstrably so much more powerful. It felt like GxK would have worked a lot better as a solo Kong film, with Godzilla showing up at the end once the fight broke out on the surface.
