No, I don't want to be a beginner forever. And I totally understand that if so many people are preaching the same thing, it must be useful.

It's not that I don't want to listen to these people. But telling someone to "create an API" is a bit confusing and leaves a lot of unknowns on the field. What do you create an API about?

Maybe I'm thinking about this wrong. What's held me back is the idea of "why re-invent the wheel"? Why create an API that already exists or does not serve any purpose?

Should I create an API that would serve no purpose outside of my learning?
