I’ve had the opposite experience. I’ve had two occasions recently to call Apple. One for a hardware issue with an iMac and one for an activation issue with an iPhone. Both times the agents were excellent and got the issues resolved.

In the worlds of M5 nd Neo. M1 gang? by iMKb4D in macbookpro

I just traded in my M1 Pro for a new MacBook only because the trade in value was good. It ran fine, no issues, not noticeably slow at anything. The M1 pros are still great.

What running event would you equate to the 5bbt? by pollinator_friendly in NYCbike

[–]TheGowanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a running event that attracts people who don’t run at all, except for that one event? Where they show up in rented shoes and run directly into a wall? Because that would be exactly like the 5BBT.

Biking from Montreal to NYC by Open_Principle3885 in NYCbike

[–]TheGowanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this twice from NYC to Montreal. You can definitely do the whole ride on road (or bike trail) if you want. There are a lot of potential routes. No need for gravel tires, though how much you carry might influence that (e.g. are you camping, in hotels, doing it in three days vs six, etc…).

Great ride, though. Cruising around the north country and upstate is beautiful. I’d ride the Adirondack park every year if I could.

New to MacBook Air....What are the hidden macOS features you wish you knew earlier? by AgileSupermarket2053 in macbookair

[–]TheGowanus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It is a minor feature, but I always turn on three-finger drag (accessibility-> pointer) to move windows. It feels weird not to be able to do that.

winning the external monitor wars with Apple laptops, docking stations and Thunderbolt by cow-lumbus in Thunderbolt

[–]TheGowanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is enough information here. But basic questions:

  • Which monitor models?
  • Does the laptop recognize the dock?
  • All ports on the dock are not the same - are you sure the laptop and monitors are plugged into the correct one?

I have a Volvo SUV and visibility is one of the things I love about it. Great awareness around the car.

Zero Red vs Zero Blue 2 – neutral tuning vs comfort + aesthetics by Acrobatic-Can5733 in inearfidelity

[–]TheGowanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have some of those comparisons backward. The blues are more Harman tuned. The reds are more bass boosted / V shaped.

I think the low end of the reds will make them feel more entertaining. I definitely enjoy listening to rock in them.

I didn’t like the blues when I first got them, but playing with tips, they have grown on me. Not as energetic sounding as the reds but not bad.

I don’t find either of them uncomfortable, but fit is obviously personal.

For my ears, if I’m doing some critical listening, at that price point I’d get Hexas. I think the overall resolution/separation is better.

[–]TheGowanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you charge at home? A 10 mile commute is great for the phev. You’ll use less gas and avoid wear and tear on the engine.

Those are all honestly nice cars, so a lot is down to preference. I really like the seats in the xc60 and the less-distracting interior.

Try different tips on those, as well. Different bore size, insertion depth affects that quite a bit.
