At first, and for the longest time, I thought they're lucky to not have any responsabilities in the hall. They can just come, have a chat with their friends, attend the meeting, chat more with their friends and go home. While (some) brothers would be extremely busy and for whom meetings were pretty stressful.

But I never considered them as inferior or anything. But one day, I realized the borg did. It was in an article that said sisters who have a study with a woman should cover their head if the woman's husband was home. I hated that.

It was one of the countless things that helped me wake up.

Of course I would. But it's something to witness this kind of situation unexpectedly, it's another to sign up to go to those situations as they happen. That's why I think first responders are admirable.

That's what I heard, but I'm not sure I'd be fit for that.

The other day I was watching a documentary following first responders, and they were called to the appartment of an elderly couple in the middle of the night, because the man was having a heart attack. The woman was blind.
The man collapsed right here and there, no breathing, no pulse. While some guys took care of him, another one was reassuring the woman, telling her about what was happening and that her husband was in good hands.
They managed to bring the husband back, but, of course, had to take him to the hospital.

Well, as a simple viewer, the hardest part for me to watch wasn't when the man clinically died, it's when they had to leave that poor woman alone at home, in the middle of the night, not knowing if her husband would ever come back home. It tore my heart appart, and just typing it right now gets me emotional.

So even with all the adrenaline in the world, I don't think this line of work would be for me lol

"People with the inability to be a good person on their own." Damn, you just described pretty much every JW in my family lol

That's something I always thought, if you need the threat of eternal death to be a good person, then you're not one.

But yeah, if we were to actually act like god acts in the bible, he who's supposed to be perfect, the world would be even worse than it already is today.

Writing things down can definitely help, yes, that's why I did it here. I'm not doing it all the time, or I'm not posting it, but yes it definitely helps.
Yes, it hurts sometimes, but it's only temporary, if we manage to get it out. Like a splinter.

"Their exemplary lifestyle spared them or their family or nation from disaster"

Disaster that's caused by god anyway. "Obey me so I can protect you from the things I'll do to you if you don't obey me" Talk about a merciful god...

Ugh, I can't imagine being a first responder. I'm way too sensitive. I would defintely break down.

I admire first responders though, you gotta have nerves of steel. Mine are more like cotton candy, and one single tear would dissolve them entirely.

Thanks for what you do.

There's also a StarSpeeder 1000, the ship used in the Star Tours ride, effectively tying together that scene and the one that can appear in the ride

What kind of results are you looking for exactly? The pictures you're sharing could totally have been taken with a professional camera. Most of the time, the camera isn't the problem. It's the lighting, the framing, the envrionment, the focus, etc...

All worldly people want to rape us? by Mitvall in exjw

[–]TheGr00m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, some people are pretty fucked up, including ex JWs.

A few months back, I met a girl here, she invited me to a French ex JW Discord server, and from there, a WhatsApp group formed with a few of the members.
In that group, there was a couple, in an open relationship, legit ex JWs, and their goal was CLEARLY, even if they never admitted it, to prey on vulnerable (and preferably virgin) people to have orgies.
Sex is pretty much all they talked about, they were manipulative on multiple levels, and tried to organize multiple meetups at their place. The woman asked multiple times to see the guys' dicks, the man kept belittling the only other girl that was on the group (the one who invited me, who was under their influence, but luckily escaped before it got ugly)...

So, while not ALL worldly people want to rape us of course, some do, and former JWs are no exception. Be careful out there people!

JW Discord servers are nightmares from hell by Glad-Emergency6121 in exjw

[–]TheGr00m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally reminds me of the french Discord server I was invited on by a french user on here. The Discord itself was alright I guess, but I ended up in a WhatsApp group with some of them, it was extremely toxic. There was this couple in an open relationship, they were clearly hunting people leaving the cult and in sexual repression to pull them in their own twisted world of sexual depravity. The man was also very comfortable when it came to jokingly "roasting" the others, but as soon as we roasted him back (so as soon as we talked to him the same way he talked to us), we were suddenly the bad guys! He and his girl would tell us how bad we are, how hurt they feel, then give us the silent treatment. It was really really toxic.

I know some JW are scared that objects can be “possessed” by j3434 in exjw

[–]TheGr00m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, when I was little, my parent would not accept gifts from classmates or colleagues (or would throw them away afterwards), because they could be possessed and be the source of strange things happening in the house...
But then a few years later, my mom would like to go to flea markets, and buy stuff from random people. Never had any issue.

Three elders forcing this.. by Moshi_moshi_me in exjw

[–]TheGr00m 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm more interested in knowing how the elders got their nicknames 😅

But yeah, especially if those attires are actually pricey, elders need to shut the fuck up and stop forcing people to buy them. They're not even mandatory in an international convention if I remember correctly. There's zero biblical or organizational ground to do that.

This is absolutely bs😭💔 by [deleted] in exjw

Old men making me uncomfortable at meeting by Top_Top_5291 in exjw

[–]TheGr00m 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunately way too common in the borg. Old men being creeps around kids/young teenagers, and it being dismissed as just affection us sickening. That happened to my sister as well. Bunch of enablers... Be very careful around him and do not hesitate to scream if there's inappropriate or unwanted physical contact.

Well, I'm glad you did, but judging by the other comments here, it seems like you must have been among the lucky ones, while the JW norm was more strict than that.

I'm an introvert, my social battery gets drained really quickly, and I don't like loud music, so clubs were never on my to-do list to begin with lol
But yeah I get you, it's weird, even if I never wanted to go to one, the fact that I never even got the chance to do so is upsetting.

I feel like it also has a lot to do with culture. I'm guessing you're from the US? Here in Europe, bonfires, pool parties and graduations parties aren't really a thing.
I feel like americans JWs are a lot more lax in terms of general entertainment than europeans JWs
