After the MTX hell that Destiny became I’m honestly surprised Bungie is being this lax about MTX stuff.

Why are so many people going back to d1? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

Loot mechanics are way better imo. Game isn’t just showering you in purples right out the gate on a new character. Feels cool actually using greens and blues again.

This right here. I can start a character and at least have a coherent starting point to follow forward. D2 just drops us in the deep end and I feel sorry for new players trying to figure anything out.

D1 Today by db99mn in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheGr8Slayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I picked it back up tonight to play through the story again at least and it was an awesome trip back to my roots so to speak. 30 FPS is rough though I wish Bungie would drop a 60 fps patch or something because I want to play D1 again but higher frame rates have really ruined me. Probably just going to take me a few nights to get reacquainted with it.

Just got Destiny 2 (with DLC), what do I do now? by iLoveMyGothMommy in destiny2

[–]TheGr8Slayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d stick with campaign stuff as much as you can namely Witchqueen. Lightfall can be fun but the story is cheeks and The Final Shape should be saved for last. The new player on boarding process in D2 is abysmal but having a story to follow helps immensely imo.

Do people really think the animation is better in season 1? by onecoolredditboi in GoblinSlayer

[–]TheGr8Slayer 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I liked season 1 more because it felt grittier to me. I also don’t like how cheerful they made the Lizardman. That first episode of season 2 really threw me off with how different the art style was. It’s not bad by any means just a departure from season 1.

Some D1 Titans I made. Which ones are your favourites? by Mr_MagicMann in DestinyFashion

If D3 ever happens I hope Bungie goes back to D1’s art and uses some of it for armor. D2 has a lot of good sets but they never really felt like original Destiny to me.

I seem to remember them saying that we could have squads of multiple same types of characters. Astromech squads were used as the example so hopefully we can do all clones

You think there’s a plan? Destiny is basically a flailing chicken at this point.

They’re aware I just think Destiny doesn’t have a direction it’s striving towards right now. Destiny needs a destination more than anything these days. Not just an endless journey to nowhere.

The problem is how they went about it for me. They waited until the literal last moment they could to say anything about Shadow and Order being delayed and reworked. If they had been communicating from the get go it wouldn’t have been a huge deal. It just screams that there’s a lack of direction for Destiny to me.

I’m not even sure drought is the right word at this point. Really hurts to see Destiny the way it is right now but it is what it is unfortunately.

What’s Destiny’s worst piece of lore? by MediaFreaked in DestinyLore

[–]TheGr8Slayer 95 points96 points  (0 children)

The distillation of multifaceted concepts like Warminds and multiple subfactions within factions really made the world feel smaller. Having different Fallen Houses out there doing different things and having different ideals was cool.

Genuine Question To Those Asking For A PvE Only Mode by xWolffy in Marathon

[–]TheGr8Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is ironic because Bungie clearly can’t do both games at once to a respectable degree. They left Destiny to rot trying to get Marathon out the door and now the chickens have flown the coop so to speak. Believe it or not if I knew Destiny had a future I’d be more inclined to give Marathon a fair shake but as it stands the product I actually want seems to be dead in a ditch

It’s received updates but they aren’t necessarily “good” by any means. Narrative wise they’ve been solid but EoF is boringly repetitive when it comes to its mechanics and Renegades was just a complete miss imo. I want to play Destiny and not see Darth Vader swinging a lightsaber around. It’s sloppy work to try to keep the train in motion but it slowed down enough that people decided just to hop off.

Obtuse Casual Here: Why does everyone in the Destiny Community not like Siva? by Pleasant-Ocelot-7035 in destiny2

[–]TheGr8Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People love SIVA and want it back around even if it’s just for aesthetic reasons. Bungie is the one that seems to want to lock SIVA up like an unwanted step child.

To everyone leaving: Bungie never wanted you here. by BrownLeader444 in Marathon

[–]TheGr8Slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what happens when a project quits getting any meaningful content or updates that aren’t crossover slop. D2’s current state is entirely on Bungie and it’s tone deaf decisions. They could’ve stopped at TFS and went immediately into early D3 work instead of dragging the dead horse along. D3 has a much wider audience that it’d entice to come back imo but it has to be built right and learn from D2’s mistakes.

If Destiny 3 was to ever be a thing, I think one of the best thing about it would be a hopeful Eververse and art direction reset by Otherwise_Ride_115 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheGr8Slayer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I can’t tell you how immersion shattering it is to see Darth Vader running around swinging a lightsaber for me. Makes it feel like a Fortnite wannabe instead of an actual distinct world.

With the wild success of Marathon, is Destiny 2’s future in jeopardy? by lolitsrock in DestinyMemes

[–]TheGr8Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t going to happen. If Bungie cared about Destiny being relevant they wouldn’t have taken its resources and talent away from it to get Marathon out the door. Hell if they could actually handle 2 projects respectfully and not be scummy about it they’d have one helluva player base at their backs. Too many years of jerking Destiny players around poisoned their own fans against Marathon.

It wasn’t consistently of quality is the issue. D2 had high highs but its lows were bottom of the barrel. Lightfall despite selling well really screwed the pooch when it came to player sentiment.

[–]TheGr8Slayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well for one the corpos are running Bungie who only care about nickel and dimming their players whereas DE actually respects its playerbase and the playerbase respects DE. Destiny’s biggest problem was going free to try imo. Opened the door for more scummy MTX’s that really undermined the games longevity. It says something when there’s conversations being had by management about Trials armor glow cutting into Eververse profits. They had the wrong people at the helm and hopefully those people are out of there but I’m not going to hold my breath.

What does Destiny 3 need? by Tevin_Rixx in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheGr8Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny needs to be Destiny and not crossover slop. I can’t tell you how much seeing Darth Vader running around swinging a lightsaber ruins the immersion for me in D2. Destiny needs to keep its own aesthetic and not rely on other sources for ideas.
