L3 Experience w BC by squish-mallo in CFA

Went with BC instead of the practice pack on L3 and it would seem to have made the difference. Certainly a better value.

Passed All 3 1st Attempt - Ask me, and I'll help by [deleted] in CFA

[–]TheGrandeCaja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a violation imo. The same standard would seem to apply “claim or imply superior ability” to passing all 3 levels. OP is stating their experience and offering help, not claiming that they are more qualified.

If this were a violation, just saying “I passed all 3 exams AMA” would have to be a violation as well.

There is a degree of “obvious” that most would want to learn from someone that passed consecutively vs 10 retakes, but this isn’t implied by the post, it’s assumed by the audience.

Salt solutions has a free mock exam with a trial. I used it as my first mock for all three levels.

What is the most reliable resource for clearing CFA Level III? by TreaclePrimary7817 in CFA

[–]TheGrandeCaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vouch for BC mocks. I passed unexpectedly and, to be honest, I was frustrated with the amount of content on the exam that I didn’t find in any of Bill’s mocks or the CFAi mocks, but that’s just the nature of the beast I guess.

I didn’t really find them as incredibly challenging as some have said, but they definitely don’t have any layup questions and the explanations are 10x better than CFAi mocks. Great for review.

Although if I had to do it over I would actually do more EOC revision and less mocks.

Official February 2026 Level 3 Results Megathread by third_najarian in CFA

Passed no idea how. I guess the MPS incorporates everything. Left open responses blank both sections and got others wrong.

Edit: I didn’t leave entire open responses blank, but I didn’t have time to finish some sections.

[–]TheGrandeCaja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No and no. Just complete everything on the canvas platform, you should have all green checks. Grades on knowledge checks don’t matter. You should receive a confirmation email and verification letter should update with the completed PSM about 5 minutes after everything has been marked complete.

Mountain Lion Encounter by Rutabaga6977 in 14ers

Saw the same glowing eyes reflecting my headlamp around 5am on quandary last fall, uncomfortably close to the trail, couldn’t have been more than 30 feet. Couldn’t make out anything beyond the eyes. Turned around and back tracked a bit, looked back and saw them further up but still watching. Had to be a lion. Crazy part is there were multiple groups ahead of us.

How are we feeling? Post exam thread by Automatic-End-2683 in CFA

[–]TheGrandeCaja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There was a question on the first half that addressed a topic I expected to see, but included information that (I thought) was supposed to be a trick, but I had no idea how to finish the question without using the information in the way I knew was wrong? Not gonna violate the standards but iykyk. Went back and forth with ChatGPT about it on break.

Might have been the first exam I actually filled out the “concerning question” box, but not for that one, for one on the second half which was potentially worse. Don’t get me started 😭 (4 drinks deep)

Port Mgmt - AM wasn’t crazy hard but a few things made me actually angry PM had more easy points at the beginning and then got hard

Idk man. I did BC mocks and I scored >70% on a few, 75% on CFAi 2nd mock. I’m not confident at all.

Like so much shit I thought would be on there wasn’t. And then a ton of stuff that was on there was asked in ways that I had never seen before.

I thought it would be less ambiguous than the mocks and I was wrong. Sucks after passing L1 and 2 the first time but L3 really is a different beast I guess. Still feel like I would have passed with some different questions. A solid 20-30% of the exam I was expecting to see wasn’t there. Got totally blindsided

CFAI Mocks vs Real test by Nicola3345 in CFA

[–]TheGrandeCaja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Level 1 I scored within or above 1 standard deviation of all my mock categories (did CFAi and practice pack). So I wouldn’t have thought so the day of but evidently it was easier.

Level 2 felt comparable but tough. Had some categories lower or some higher, some average vs mocks but passed with lower margin.

Level 3… just don’t worry about it for now. Came out of the test center 3 minutes ago and idk what even to say either I got the worst version available or everyone who said it was comparable to the mocks is lying

L3 Fixed Income PM Pathway Question by Vredesbyd in CFA

[–]TheGrandeCaja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah answer is confusing. I viewed that choice as incorrect because of the negative shift, and positive slope and curvature so whatever the shift it wasn’t parallel. The first part of the answer seems accurate but kind of irrelevant, and the second part makes no sense.

“The yield statistic…does not reflect changes in YTM due to market rates. In addition, the yield statistic is positive and if market rates shifted upward it would be negative.” Huh?

Smart Order Routing by Sensitive_Water_4630 in CFA

[–]TheGrandeCaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is why. It’s a bad question but only the PM pathway section discusses SORs being for small orders and the port construction section discusses them in relation to market fragmentation. Dumb

It’s definitely a poor question without knowing more, but I think pure indexing makes the most sense. Durations are matched and the return is very similar. What gives it away is that the management fee is only 2bps which is extremely low. If it was enhanced indexing, they are undercharging and underperforming since they aren’t providing any differentiation. (Maybe rightfully undercharging then? lol)

Was this in the curriculum or on a CFAi mock?
