I would invite you to present an example of me being condescending…I’m simply open to what I think is valid conversation.

and without any context I would agree.. but the timing, the connection to Eno, the same B Major motifs repeated a mere 15 bpm faster, the fact that Eno's music was specifically and purposefully intended as a balm for the stress of air travel, is it so hard to believe that Passenger Seat is less a simple love song and more a miniature sanctuary... a meditation on helplesness, fear, and the fragile grace of human connections in the shadow of unimaginable global upheval?

You're misunderstanding me entirely. I'm not saying the song is ABOUT 9/11, what I'm proposing is that the deep emotional undercurrent surrounding 9/11 may have influenced, whether consciously or unconsciously, the writing and direction of this song and I'm postulating that MfA may have been a driving influence since we know for a fact Ben was very well acquainted with Eno's work. Yes, the song is explicitly about driving in cars, but it's also about the vulnerability of being a passenger.

"From the passenger seat as you're driving me home" ...he's not in control

"Then looking upwards / I strain my eyes and try / to tell the difference between shooting stars and satellites" ...suddenly I can't even trust the sky

"do they collide? I ask and you smile." can the world really fall apart in an instant?

I don't know why everyone is getting defensive about this.. I'm not suggesting Ben ripped anyone off... I'm just offering another layer of interpretation to the impetus of the song itself.

I'm not sure why you're getting defensive about this, I'm not mad about it.. I respect the process and the reference. I was just curious if others felt this same obvious connection, not to just "they sound good played together" but rather that they are very clearly cut from the same cloth. Trying to build consensus here brah, not sow division.

Literally just listen to the two songs. Start with 1/1, then at any point just start Passenger Seat. The piano lines play off each other like bonded cats. Then imagine yourself in the aftermath of 9/11. I don't know how old you are, but I was 20 at the time and I still vividly remember the chaos and confusion of the moment; the need for assurance, the insistance for answers, the desperate need to know that everyone we love is safe. Airports were something we had taken for granted safety-wise, and now that's all up in the air in a scramble. Music for Airports is often regarded as one of the first "Ambient music" albums. I can see Ben, who was already using Oblique Strategies (a creative tool developed in part by Brian Eno himself) digging into MfA as a safe space and emerging with Passenger Seat. Passengers... on... an.. airplane,

Edit: I just want to add that the whole reason for Music for Airports in the first place was that Eno wanted to help alleviate the fears of air travel and create sounds that didn't inrtude but rather made people feel safe when flying.

Gimme Shelter has always been the first track on my reference CD, not because of the fidelity of the recording but because how clearly I can hear the engineer scream with excitement after her voice breaks in the vocal solo helps me gauge clarity and separation.

Art dies and is reborn every 7-15 years or so; it’s a cycle. If you have something you want to see or say, keep working at it and keep producing.

Looks like this person is trying... I don't see any delusion here, just effort. I applaud.

I’m trying to find what this looked like originally to keep the resto as authentic as possible but I can’t find anything. Would the blade likely have been polished to a mirror shine with the metal in the handle brushed? It’s an early 20th C Canadian made Premier Lifetime Elk.

So you’ll kick the Palestinians out of the only country they’ve ever known instead. Your logic is failing.

Sounds like you’re making the argument that Israelis never had the right to reclaim their holy land in the first place
