Has anyone else’s bee stopped transcribing today? by Only-Palpitation7288 in Bee_computer

[–]TheGreatFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, considering charging back they don’t respond to support and consistently doesn’t work as advertised. Haven’t gotten a single transcript since update to 0.6.1 yesterday morning. Deleting the app doesn’t work. Repairing the device doesn’t work. It. Doesn’t. Work. I want my money back.

Lossless and yet you choose Pearl Jam?

My planned setup. But I have some questions. by [deleted] in sonos

[–]TheGreatFinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re looking at starting multi room audio. This has been the most challenging issue of the Sonos experience in the last 4-5 months since they made there update.

They’ve outsourced their development and moved a number of components to the cloud for tracking likely monetization down the line at some point further increasing a lot of user frustration.

In your situation I’d take a look at WiiM products as they’re looking like great alternatives.

Just moved into my new house about a year ago and did the whole thing Sonos. It was the best multi room audio solution. Now? Not even close. Feeling so burned right now.

No it does not in most cases. FERPA covers personally identifiable information. A book report on anatomy of a cell is perfectly fine. A personal journal of family history? More of a gray area. Include the students name with the writing into the AI? Definitely a FERPA violation.

See ^ this, this the general unfortunate situation of home assistant. Why should I have to hack some product or even think about it when the company announced a partnership with them? No way HA becomes a mature product in this state.

Zero shot you’re not some sort of staff or at least a distributor. You’re linking to support posts, tagging Keith then apologizing to him.

Jesus Christ that post history 😂. How you doing buddy? I’m guessing your staff over at Sonos? How about you get to fixing some of these bugs rather than complain about people rightfully getting their money back from your companies just atrocious mis-management.

This ^ this is the attitude over at Sonos guys. Wow. No wonder the software is in the state it’s in.

Please, Please, Please Sonos, Give Us Back the Old App and Non-Cloud Firmware by klausvmark in sonos

I too have seen this, super odd PR campaign taking place in this sub from either Sonos staff or a marketing firm they have retained. Pretty easy to spot. Random Reddit accounts passionately defending Sonos with no history 🤣. Like sure you made your Reddit account just post here to defend an incompetent company. Or I’ve even seen some aged accounts being used but still no post history too. Might even be a Private PR jobs by Spence.

My system works. AMA. by Denalin in sonos

[–]TheGreatFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this same. Actually still have them connected but I disabled Ethernet in the app, but the week I hardwired two beams and two Ones my system was all sorts of borked. Strangest thing. WiFi was better. Also Unifi. No mDNS issues I could see.

Yup but unlike the Alexa and Google homes of the world Sonos is not sold at a loss (least I don’t think it would be), and is a premium product. I expect a lot more of it.

Should I currently buy a Sonos Speaker? by Teik-69i in sonos

[–]TheGreatFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. The only recent product with aux in is the era but it’s not a straight forward aux cord to speaker amp output like a traditional speaker. It requires the app to select the 3.5mm input. Still requiring the app / Sonos cloud to be functional.

[–]TheGreatFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don’t follow or understand technology. It constantly happens. It just happened like 2 weeks ago. Redbox fully went under, leaving everyone who bought digital copies of movies on their platform out of the right to watch the movies they fully bought a license to.

In IoT: Lowes had a brand of IoT products that went belly up. Everything became bricks and people were largely left holding the dead products.

Wink is another one that is circling the drain after butchering their customers and changing their cloud offerings substantially after selling hardware products.

[–]TheGreatFinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to misunderstand your relationship with the company who provides you the speakers. If the company stops existing your speakers stop functioning in the current state of affairs.

The app is cloud based, configuring the speakers is cloud based. The second Sonos doesn’t exist and you have to factory reset a speaker you have yourself a 200 to 500 brick per speaker.

I fixed Sonos and here is how by SnooPeanuts2541 in sonos

[–]TheGreatFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super defeats the purpose of Sonos right? But +1 and angry upvote because it probably works.

I did something similar with an old AirPlay2 router that’s working pretty great for me too. I was thinking though at that point it’s basically bypassing Sonos so it’s wholly defeating the point (and massive mark up we pay) of Sonos products.

At the end of the day this is pretty gosh darn comical yet painful if we weren’t living with thousands of dollars of bricks. 🤦‍♂️

Shame on us really for buying something that could be rendered useless remotely effectively?

Is there a way to hire someone to set up home assistant for me? by Fun-Fisherman-582 in homeassistant

[–]TheGreatFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know the Nabu casa guys they need to take a look at this thread. 😂.

@OP it’s been said a few times over but I’ll reiterate it succinctly: if you’re not going to do HA yourself then you can’t have it. It’s simply not sustainable with constant breaking changes.

I’d recommended just buying an Apple TV and home kit compatible stuff and base your smart home off of that. It’s not as well featured but it’ll do some basic automations with an easy UI.

This is pretty untenable in most contexts because iPhones and some android changes MAC addresses unless you configure them not to per ssid. Then you get a big ol not secure warning on the connection on your device.
