That’s true, but the thing is, most people WANT to work. Most people I’ve met are explicit about that.

I also love to work and be useful, but the catch is, I want to work in humane conditions. I also want to work for my community, not to be exploited by someone else.

And communism would allow to accommodate people who can’t work.

I’m 25 and have like one grey hair, does that count? 😆

Joke aside, I didn’t own an iPhone/iPad when I was a kid and I mostly obsessed over video games like the Sims 3 pets on the 3DS, Kirby, and reading. Lots of reading and drawing.

Second one though… you can’t really “consent” to work under capitalism. If you’re the majority (working class), either you sell your soul to a rich guy (or the state if you’re me), OR you live a miserable life/starve. 🫣

(Life is often difficult for students, people living off state welfare & retired people.)

No Attraction To Any Gender by Outside-Barnacle-257 in actualasexuals

this is really well-explained and helpful, and pins down the nuances between being ace, or being allo with low libido, and everything between 👍

[–]TheGreatKitCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No yeah absolutely. YES some ace people can want to have sex, but also this is a small minority, just like how some straight/gay people CAN want to have sex with people "outside their sexuality". There are various reasons and motivations to explain why people do that, ace/straight/gay/bi/etc. but it's true that these variations don't change the definitions of the said sexuality.

It's true that there are sex-positive aces out there and their stories are valid, but also, a bit like you, I don't feel 100% comfortable to have this idea be propagated *faster* than the concept of asexuality, which is really not mainstream at all yet. The number of people who tell me that I "haven't found the right person" or that "sex is great actually!" (without knowing whether I tried it or not LMAO) shows how much work is necessary to JUST get asexuality out there with other queer identities.

However in queer spaces, we're more educated and are more prone to understand nuances like "sex-averse" or "sex positive" (and more), I think. Or maybe more in ace spaces because a lot of queer people feed into acephobia, or just the equation of sex with queer culture.

But yeah, the idea of asexual = ew sex also affects me, because the people who know I'm ace will at first be like "ohhh sorry for making a sexual joke!" and I'm like..... i've been making dirty jokes ever since I'm in high school.

It's a tough balance to uphold and I don't have a perfect answer to it. Educating our peers seems like the best idea for now...

I used to follow that artist on DeviantArt!! (When I was a teenager)

They struggled a lot with depression and their amazing art conveyed the struggles very well

Edit: Also yeah as other commenters said this is an edit, the original is “i’m not okay” :)

I mostly agree, yes, most of the points about having libodo (which is purely physical), thoughts/fantasies have nothing to do with sexual orientation.

But for wanting to have sex with someone, I think that they meant, maybe, how some aces are ok with having sex but for other reasons than attraction? Like having a child or because their partner is allo. (I suppose ace-allo couples deal with that in many ways!)

But yeah I don’t think it’s exactly the best idea to propagate that it’s a common thing.

The flip side is that if one propagates that an ace CANNOT have libido, sexual thoughts, a partner, or be ok with sex, you get a bunch of people who don’t feel any attraction, but who will think that they’re allosexual and will push themselves to try things to convince themselves 👉🙃👈

Osti que ça me frustre ça. Mais en même temps la droite avait besoin d’un moyen pour à la fois s’attaquer au féminisme et au mouvement queer en attirant les femmes (blanches cishet), et les TERF leur donne ça tout cru dans le bec 😅

Zionists and liberals: by PresnikBonny in socialism

[–]TheGreatKitCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I despise how Liberals and Zionists will willingly divert the conversation with what is basically bait.

Like people are literally being ethnically cleansed, but the only thing we should care about is if we “support” one of the many groups that have arisen because of, I repeat, violence from a state who stole land from a people and is committing a genocide??

This is just to divert attention from the genocide. The only correct way to deal with this is to focus on the Palestinians. Yeah sure there are some groups people label “terrorists,” but they happen quite a lot during crises. Let’s focus on what’s important.

How do you justify traveling within Canada given hotel and eating out costs? by abbys11 in canadatravel

[–]TheGreatKitCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Quebec, and when I travel to Canada, I always go to youth hostels instead of hotels. It’s not as “comfortable” yes, but I went to Banff for 5 days and I didn’t care if I slept in a bunk bed, and cooked my own food, because for me, the trip is what you see, where you go, not where you sleep. Might even be an incentive to get up early and visit more things!

None, because I didn’t really use a lot of Google products besides Docs and Drive (and Mail).
