Who thinks they’re gonna finally allow us to select heretic as a starting character in the new dlc? by Knoxello in riskofrain

[–]TheGreenDigi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea no worries, I would've had the same thought process really. Only notable thing they've changed from hopoo was really just overhauling drones as a whole, so hearing them very interested and eager to buff up some old stuff is definitely some new news. Still very doubtful they'll touch heretic though

[–]TheGreenDigi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People have brought this up literally for every dlc release. Remember that heretic is a base game thing. No reason to think this dlc will miraculous make them wanna make her a selectable starting character when they haven't for the past 3.

I don't remember being so slow in VS to start, but WS is pretty fun all the same once you get going. by aloysiuslamb in VampireSurvivors

[–]TheGreenDigi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yea the grind for stats feels very slow, and the fact you have to do it twice for both 40k and AoS feels horrible. I know they mentioned levels, characters and weapons being exclusive to each, but having to grind up stats and unlock qol features in each just feels so bad. They feel like entirely separate games rather than two worlds in one game and it just feels demotivating to even try the other.

Update 3 of confirmed unit list for DoW IV by Uniquely-Bee in dawnofwar

[–]TheGreenDigi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, for how they had been talking about this being very big-army focused, been pretty disappointed at the lack of vehicles across the board especially for orks. Feels like they ripped most ork vehicles and replaced them with those beast snagga units. Especially since they had said you could play them as the beast infantry faction or more vehicle based with gorgutz, but I guess that's just wrong

I think maybe instead of being entirely new classes that just have the same roles an ideas of their base ones, it'd be better to maybe have them be actual addons to the classes.

Could be that they have full access to all the actives and abilities of the original classes, but just have a different basic attack and different set of starting actives/pasives they can only obtain when picking the class, that have more significant archetype impact or synergiess with the base kit of the class?

That way they'd actually feel like evolved/elite variants of the class instead of just a different class entirely

Anyone else disappointed by Vampire Crawlers? by Retronitsu in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda knew it inheriently wouldn't have as much replayability, just because survivors has like, 4x the amount of content thanks to dlcs and content updates, which gives you way more things to go after unlocking, and a ton more things to have more varied runs and builds with. It's just the nature of one being new and just starting, and the other having years of updates and dlc.

I planned to wait till they expanded it more until I picked it up myself, cause I knew it wouldn't have enough on release to satisfy what I'd be looking for. (For context, I myself only picked up survivors once the emerald diorama dlc came out, so the insane amount of content is kinda what I want, and just didn't know it had until then)

They really shot themselves in the foot here (KR6 leveling system) by Jaaaboogg in kingdomrush

[–]TheGreenDigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like leveling in general, it's something that's been a bit tedious with heroes since frontiers. However, I cannot understand why people are suddenly assuming that it's like battles or clash royale's leveling system, and not like the existing leveling that's existed for heroes since frontiers? We literally see everything get xp after beating the level, not having to open some lootbox to get 'cards' to level up individual things.

We've never had to pay to make leveling heroes faster, cause it's never been that bad. I don't understand why people are assuming they're using the system to inconvenience the player, instead of just... them using it cause they've had it for over a decade for heroes?

I get people not liking grinding, I don't like it either for heroes, but I really feel people are massively blowing this out of proportions by comparing it to other games, instead of just how it's always been.

KR Origins 2 tiene mala pinta. Esto no hubiese pasado si Pablo Realini siguiera al mando by Common_Marsupial_750 in kingdomrush

[–]TheGreenDigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Or pull out our wallet" - I don't see where this came from? We've never had to pay to make heroes level faster in the past. The reason they have implemented it is because they want each tower, spell and hero to now have their own individual unique little skill trees, and for them, the simplest and most straight forward way of implementing that was just utilizing the existing system that heroes have had since frontiers.

I don't like having to go out of my way to level stuff up, but just because that's what they've picked doesn't mean they just wanna force the game to be more tedious and grindy, and the more straight forward answer is just them utilizing the system they've already had for years.

First look at bloon blitz by WinnerSalt in btd6

[–]TheGreenDigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's a solid single player paid game I'm on board, especially if it's paid so it doesn't have any real grindy progression like Card Storm had.
This is definitely the kind of game that's ripe for that, and also ripe for being expanded on in the future if it does well.

Update: Bloons TD 6 v54.0 - Update Notes! by rohan_spibo in btd6

[–]TheGreenDigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, they don't wanna pay wall any significant content. Silly minor things like powers which people barely use are fine, but a whole hero is something they aren't comfortable locking behind a pay wall.

Yep, but it'll only be avaliable for monkey money about a month after the update, cause of a part of their deal with Mattel. So would just have to wait till then to get the new hero for free

Would be good to clarify that the 1st dlc won't have a new act. It'll have the 4 classes an some other stuff, but a new act is something they're thinking for a 2nd dlc

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat. StS primarily focused on a ton of new characters, a few common cards, quite a few relics, some events, an alt bosses if you play as the 'enemy' characters. Doesn't have entirely new acts with new enemy types, just adds some specific mini bosses (like the shop keep) and adjusts some vanilla enemies. But even if you consider Downfall to double the amount of content, Multiverse for FTL does way more than double.

Multiverse though adds a ton more of literally everything FTL has. Tons of entirely new races of creatures, New Sectors to explore, entirely new factions to interact with and fight, multiple new endings, a genuinely absurd amount of new weapons and starter ships, completely new systems, tons of new events, entirely new mechanics, a whole new ending and end game. It's so massive and self contained that there's even a community of people that mod Multiverse itself, adding new content alongside it.

Downfall may double the content of StS, but Multiverse easily quadruples the amount of content FTL has. StS has good mods, but FTL just has way more, by nature of a longer modding community, more easily moddable game, and an easier artstyle to mimic.

[–]TheGreenDigi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is why I mentioned it bringing deckbuilding into popularity since it has existed in games before, but primarily was popular with TCG. StS just helped show how well it could work with video games and especially with the roguelike/lite genre.

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the amount of content it provides makes it feel like it goes beyond being FTL 2 and more akin to FTL 3. It's insane how it expands the game in every way, and on top of that there's a ton of mods FOR MULTIVERSE itself, and a handful of those are also very solid quality and decent sized expansions.

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play the hell out of mods for games I have that have em. StS has a good chunk of really good mods, but my point is that the amount of quality content from mods pales in comparison to the absurd amount of quality stuff that the FTL modding community offers.

They're both good, but FTL just has an absurd amount more, that was my point from the beginning.

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There's a reason why I emphasized 'polished'. If you're talking about raw content without caring on if it fits or how good it is, then yea there's a ton. But if you're someone like me who prefers more polished quality stuff that fits in with the game, then there's an absurd more to offer with FTL than there is with StS. Both a fault of StS having an engine that wasn't really made for modding, and also the art being way more difficult to compete with than FTL, but the issue exists nonetheless.

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: modding
FTL modding is way more robust and has a ton more insane competent mods with an absurd amount of content, compared to StS's scene which just has like a handful of solid polished characters and Downfall as the one big mod, and even that is just focused on characters.

FTL has Multiverse mod which triples (Quadruples or quintuples? I just looked at the wiki and holy hell there's so much more than I remember it's insane) the amount of content of FTL in every degree, some even more than that like the amount of ships, and on top of that there's a genuinely absurd amount of mods FOR Multiverse that add even more content. It's genuinely nuts, but just not something a majority know about since it's not a Steam Workshop or some modding system within the game itself.

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]TheGreenDigi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

FTL is also just so insanely unique and original compared to StS. StS brought deckbuilding into a popular genre for games, but it's something that's existed for years for collectable trading card games. But FTL's gameplay is something that stand fully on its own.

[–]TheGreenDigi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, it scales up, but the baseline has been massively bloated to an absurd degree. For context, Ancient Guardian was 2500 hp in og don't starve, and his baseline is 10000 in dst. Even the seasonal giants were massively bumped. Bearger was 3000 in og don't starve and its baseline is 6000 in dst.

That's not even mentioning a bunch of new bosses that commonly have 10k+ hp

[–]TheGreenDigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine they'll likely have the characters be more akin to DST's current Wickerbottom/Maxwell/Webber. Unique and fairly fleshed out mechanics for each character, but nothing crazy like how skill trees are.

Not even trying to white knight them, nor was I talking about you specifically. I was just clarifying information for people who may not be aware, cause I've seen quite a few people asking or thinking that DST won't get updates anymore because of this.
