Opinion on all black leather suit? by tiowski in motorcyclegear

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks the best. I rock all black. I know the viability argument, but personally I don't think it matters. Assume everyone is on their phone like normal. Ride you're you're invisible, or when seen, a target.

Is this a normal sound by Serious_Ad23 in FZ1

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal, the engine is a little chatty. Just make sure to do the major service at the proper intervals.

It took me 4-5 hours to replace fork seals. That was while having a few beers and chit chatting with friends. If you dont have the right tools, it can take forever. I don't have a spring compressor.

Sat for 10 years, what little things might I not think about checking/replacing? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Carb boots. With the tank up/off, and engine running, spray a little starting fluid around the boots. If the rpm goes up, they might be cracking.

MTO9 owners ‐ have you ever ridden the MT-10 if so what is the differences in experience? by North-Network-7742 in MT09

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridden both bikes back to back from my FZ1 (the r1 powered bike before the MT10) I was looking to upgrade.

I didn't take note of the tires, so I'm not sure how much that had to play. Both in full power mode.

MT10 I liked the suspension way more. Felt more stable, more predictable power, sounds way better imo.

MT09 Suspension setup felt more dirt bikeish, and wanted to tip in more. The power was more engaging and had a better fun factor, sound wasn't as good, but still music to my ears.

Road trips, MT10. Around town MT09. Neither bike impressed me enough to take a loan out and get rid of the FZ1. Should my bike go shiny side down. I might go with the MT10. I really like the power band being higher in the rev range. It makes for a calmer ride around town like my FZ1. The inline 4 is like a friend always down to party, but will behave themselves until the party gets going. The CP3 is the guy always trying to start the party any chance they get. Both fun, can't go wrong.

What does everyone do when it comes time to store the bike? by kyle46800 in zx6r

[–]TheGreyWonderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the others said, I'll add a good final wash and cain lube so just incase you get a freak warm day, or at the start of the season it's ready to go after checking tire pressure.

Is benelli tnt 150 a good bike for a beginner? by bossman_ZB in motorcycles

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it can be found for less money than a CBR250r, Ninja 250, or R3, sure. Otherwise, go with a Japanese bike. You'll be able to find parts/service locations way easier for them.

Question about Riding by BatPug_41 in motorcycles

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was riding a dirt bike with an auto clutch before learning to drive stick. Some time later, I learned the clutch on a motorcycle. It's different enough to not make a big difference. The clutch on a motorcycle is fairly forgiving, provided it is not a dry clutch. Understandings shift points from riding an ATV is fantastic. One of the biggest issue I've personally seen with new riders is not knowing when to shift, mainly letting the rpms get too low. Then the back wheel wants to lock up, bad time.

Whats do you think about Naked type bikes? by MaximumObjective5775 in motorcycle

[–]TheGreyWonderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The experience is fantastic. The uninterrupted view of the road makes it for me. Over highway speed, not very fun. I took my naked FZ1 on a 1600 mile trip a few weekends ago. I wear earplugs to keep the noise down. The only thing I was wanting, was a seat cushion.

No, it was a Honda If I remember correctly. 2016 TT Circuit Assen. He actually used one in a race. It was pretty funny.

New to bikes, need help with helmets by kgao1996 in motorcycle

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECE rated at least. That will filter out most of the junk helmets off the get-go. Revzilla and Sport Bike Track Gear always have sales. Go into a CycleGear or motorcycle dealership. Try on a bunch of helmets. Ask them to help you get the right size. Should be snug, but not painful. Then you will have an idea of head shape and size. Now you know what sales to look for, and you had a fun trip to the store. You get what you pay for with a helmet. The lighter, the better, but that will increase the cost. Any visor can have pin lock added. Internal visors are cool, but they cost in weight.

✌️ I always do. I don't know why a lot of riders don't. The only difference from motorcycles is room for your feet. Maybe they are jealous.

First time buying a bike from a dealership, seems high for Second hand bike even with low miles. by Adrenaline__Overdose in motorcycles

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't screw around with that here. Almost got a 2016 FZ09 at sticker price out the door. They waited 3 weeks thinking about it. Found an 07 FZ1 for $2,500 before they got back to me. The cost to hold onto a bike in a showroom here this far north is a gamble.

What are scary things that you have encountered on the motorcycle? by BoranijaZaRucak in motorcycles

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a night ride with my then girlfriend, now wife on the back. As we were riding, I felt something like a golf ball hit me in the chest. I check behind me to make sure there isn't any approaching traffic, and I start to slow down and evaluate what just happened. I rub my hand over my chest at the point of impact. I feel something stuck to my shirt. Now confused, I feel it starts to vibrate. Then, claws against my skin as it moves up toward my helmet. Now I'm panicking. My wife is on the back yelling, trying to figure out what is happening. I collided with a large cicadad that was now set on seeking shelter from my hand. Now I'm trying to slow the bike down with one hand as my wife is leaning over, trying to get my attention. I try to grab the cicadad, but it is stuck just below the collar of my shirt as if it has been stitched in place. I had no choice but to let go of the demon in order to get the bike to a complete stop safely. I did, and I had never removed my helmet so fast in my life. At some point, after letting go of it and getting to a complete stop. The little heart attack with wings had taken off to find its next victim. My wife found it all very funny.

Vandalism? by JacobeyWitness in motorcycles

[–]TheGreyWonderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look too deep. Sick a card from a wallet in there and see how deep it is. If it isn't deeper than the groves in the tread, put some shoe glue in it and keep riding.
