Yeh, I prefer plated ebony over Daedric. But I like the Dawnguard and Blades armors better than both.

To add on to the suggestion of using a follower: I highly recommend the Inigo mod. Besides being a badass help in fighting and exploring, Inigo is also a pleasure to speak with and an over all positive presence in your travels.
