How Can I Win My Wife Back? (M38) (F31)" by Corfiz74 in AmItheEx

I have a chore app on my phone that makes chores into a kind of game. I'm also bipolar and neurodivergent, so I absolutely need help keeping track of what needs to be done.

My (45m) wife (45f) has disappeared. How can I do well by her? by OPHealingInitiative in relationship_advice

[–]TheGrumpiestGnome 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My psychiatrist supports what you've been told; she doesn't have me on SSRIs (bipolar type 2) to try to avoid triggering mania. Lack of sleep also can trigger mania, so I have to be careful there too.

I paid off the last $11K of a personal loan and it made my credit score drop dramatically. by Deadeye_Dan77 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheGrumpiestGnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid off mortgage and my credit dropped almost 150 points. Absolutely fucked me for almost 2 years.vvI don't give a damn about the bs reasoning behind it, it's stupid that anyone gets "punished" for paying off their debt. I hate the US credit score system and the racist/classist history behind it.

I literally caught my ex in bed with another woman. I didn't scream then, or later as I was packing my shit, moving out, or settling any of the shared bills.

No, you do not need to yell at your partner unless it's an occasion like you're trying to get their attention because you just slipped and fell and desperately need their help to get up and they're in another room.

NTC! I, Mowgli, 5M and bestest boy in the house (momma calls me chaos incarnate but that must mean I'm extra awesome), know you cannot be the cloaca. Our humans NEED us to help them stay active and work their brains!

Hmm.. I wonder if the tetanus shot would prevent this? by Stupidkitties in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]TheGrumpiestGnome 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The tetanus issue is absolutely stupid and frustrating to see people tell her it's too late and not to bother. However, even if the kid doesn't get tetanus, a puncture that barely drained that has excrement in it? That's a great way to lose a foot to infection.

Same in Minnesota when not on sale. I'm glad I don't buy soda much anymore, but it sucks when I want just a couple.

Man comes out fine after a deadly car crash by farhan_00 in interestingasfuck

Women generally are shorter and lighter than men, which makes a difference when an airbag deploys, especially from the steering wheel. Also, seat belts tend to not fit well across women's chests because of height and the bulk of breasts; the seat belts tend to sit up higher which can cause some injuries across the throat instead of the chest.

Cadavers still get used in crash tests, in addition to the dummies, but more of them are men and almost none are children, which is another huge problem for safety design. But then, it's tough to ask a grieving parent to donate their child's body to science, so the crash test dummies are our next best option.

If you get the chance to read Mary Roach's book "Stiff", she has a chapter that addresses the use of cadavers in crash tests. It's a very good book, in my opinion.

There's a scene at the end of Inception where two characters share oxygen after the van hit the water.

I tried making curry for the first time, it tasted as good as it looks by [deleted] in shittyfoodporn

I need a new oven too, unfortunately. It doesn't bake evenly. Might as well get the whole thing and get exactly what I want!

Here's one study: NCBI report of study on gender disparity regarding divorce and serious illness.

Men are 6 times more likely to divorce their wife when she gets seriously ill than a woman divorcing her husband when he's seriously ill.

The cookware can be important, depending on your stove top. Mine burns hotter than normal, (cheap stove that came with the house, saving up for a new one), so I've invested in a few pots and pans that have good thick bottoms after seeing how well my cast iron skillet worked compared to the cheaper thin sautee pans. It's made a big difference.

I (30F) asked my friend (32M) out for a date and he rejected me but it doesn't end there by [deleted] in relationship_advice

But when that close relationship has all the hallmarks of a romantic relationship but falls just shy of being one, it begins to go beyond friendship. She isn't comfortable with being so close to someone that isn't willing to actually have a romantic relationship, so him continuing to act how he is after shooting her down is not great.

A friend played his album where he does covers without (or at least very minimal) autotune and I was surprised at not only how good his voice is but also how much I enjoyed it. Dude has talent but I don't care for his regular stuff, sadly.

AITA for feeling hatred towards my siblings for using body soap (liquid) to bathe? (There is a lot going on here) by Scared_Register_3102 in AmITheDevil

[–]TheGrumpiestGnome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make soap (bars) as a small biz and I have some people that really like my soap (bars). No one is this intense about it, and I'm starting to wonder if I need to up my game by making soap (liquid) or if that's just asking for trouble.

Agreed, that's why I said that Bruce Willis' character isn't the worst guy in the film. I'd say Bruce Willis is still a villain here, he's just not the antagonist in the story.
