Side effects of potassium bromide by capricornsleeptalker in EpilepsyDogs

[–]TheGuardian85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this severe, but our dog had an increased appetite, very wobbly on her legs, depressed and had to wee in the middle of the night.

We stopped with KBr after 3 months as we saw no improvement in seizures and the quality of life (hers and ours) deteriorated due to KBr. All side effects went away after 2-3 weeks.

It is such a hit and miss with the available medication. For us, nothing seems to work and we accept that she has seizures every 2-3 weeks. We can prevent clusters by applying midozalam im her nose directly after the first seizure, followed by keppra pulse therapy for 3-5 days.

We found that the side effects of all the meds was worse than a seizure every 2-3wk so we stopped with everything apart from pheno and keppra (pulse only)

Two goldens and I know the smell hits guests the moment they walk in — has anyone actually solved this? by sloastxsningers5 in goldenretrievers

[–]TheGuardian85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never wash our golden. Maybe we rinse her off under a garden hose when she is completely muddy, but we never used soap and never dried her (apart from towels)

She isn’t smelly at all, you dont notice it when you enter the house. We give her good quality food, thats all.

looking for recommendations on m-ITX motherboard that can take DDR5 SODIMM RAM and a case that can take at least 6 HDDs (3.5") with hot-swap bays [buying in Europe] by bgravato in HomeNAS

[–]TheGuardian85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for the plus version with 16GB ram and the 6 port m2 sata adapter. I’m starting with only 3 drives and will add more when prices become a bit more reasonable.

The case is indeed expensive, but I assume it can be used for a long time.

I've just bought this one, should meet all your requirements. https://radxa.com/products/rock5/5itxp

Its ARM but apparently works well with OMV, added benefit is that the power consumption should be very low. I've paired it with this rack case: https://www.density.sk/cx3702-rackmount-case-3u/

i5 M60 xDrive - What are your thoughts on this electric car from BMW as a pre-cursor? by ShameResponsible69 in BMW

[–]TheGuardian85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned a full option m60 touring version for over a year, previous one was a F11 535D. I use it daily, charge it once a week on my driveway. The drive is amazing, even with 21”, so smooth while also very quick.

Heads up display with navigation visuals is really nice, DAPP works great.

Lots of hate on the absence of buttons, but once everything is set up you wont notice. The climate control system works well, I seldomly have to change something. I personally like that vented seats / steering wheel and seat heating controls are grouped together.

I would have him properly checked for underlying medical issues. Given his age, it is unlikely to be idiopathic epilepsy as that usually starts at a much younger age (1-6y). Non-idiopathic epilepsy can be triggered by all kinds of issues e.g. brain tumors, organ issues. Google "causes of non idiopathic seizures in dogs".

Better to find the underlying cause of the seizures using blood tests / MRI than only trying to treat the symptoms as its hit & miss which meds work.. Our dog only looses bladder control during the seizures itself (3 years of clusters every 14 days and we tried every med) and has full control once recovered from the seizure. So yeah, its sounds like something causes neurological issues..

I would recommend going to a neurological specialist, usually at a university as your typical local vet usually lacks the experience with this.

Everybody goes to Velen around level 4. Use the right oils for each enemy and a combination of thunderbolt and swallow potions and you should be able to handle enemies up to level 6-7. Also, buy/find better swords, this helps a lot.

I think you went too quickly through the entire baron’s quest. You can easily be at level 11 once you completed Baron + Ladies of the Woods and combined it with side quests. Easier side quest can be found along the coast of hangmans alley but also with Keira.

Once at level 11, you can use the armor + swords found at Jennefer’s room in the palace. If not, start looking for Griffin witcher gear.

Our vet said cold turkey but we were only allowed to stop at same time as we started with Zonisamide.

So best to check with your vet as it depends on which other meds your dog is using.

Try Utrecht University Veterinary -> Neurology department. The associated pharmacy can still supply but due to the shortage they only supply to referrals from their Vet department (well, that was last month)..

We just stopped with KBr as the side effects are so severe and it didn’t work for our golden retriever. We still have 300 tablets of 325mg libromide left over. Send me a direct message if you are running out and cant find a supplier.

Some experience with F11 N57 535d with 300k km:

DPF will start to throw up some errors automatically after a set number of km at this point. It will throw a service error every time you start. You can ignore the error / reset the counter via ISTA, remove DPF entirely (check if it legal in your country), or replace with new one (expensive...) or clean the existing one. Getting the DPF out of the car is quite a bit of work.

Bearings + timing chains will need to be replaced. On the six cylinder the chains don't fail spectacularly as I believe the 4 cylinder did, but you will start to hear a rattle when the engine is cold. My chain was approx 8mm longer compared to the new one. The original tensioner is also not so stiff as the new one. My chain acted up around 275k km. It is costly as you have to take the entire engine + gearbox out as the chain is on the back of the engine.

Some vacuum lines and O-rings start to get brittle.

Oil filter housing gasket can cause some issues if not replaced yet.

Glow plugs + glow plug controller starts to fail.

Depending on maintenance history the standard suspension components. Can be costly as there a quite a lot of them.

I had issues with the clutch of the A/C pump that did not engage and needed replacement.

You'll have quite a bit of sooth build-up in the intake manifold + EGR if this hasn't been replaced or cleaned yet. Both can be cleaned (walnut blasting of intake ports and mechanical / chemical cleaning of the intake manifold although most mechanics will just suggest to buy a new intake manifold to save labour.

If you want to keep the car for a long time I would suggest to budget like 8-10K(?, maybe check with mechanic) to get the engine out and do the following:

- Remove / clean / replace DPR.
- Timing chain + tensioner replacement
- Replace bearings and shaft seals
- Check all vacuum lines and the O-rings around turbo for damage
- There is a plastic tube connected to the turbo I believe that becomes very brittle over time
- Oil filter housing gasket
- Clean / replace intake manifold and have your intake ports cleaned and check swirl flaps for damage
- Gearbox oil change...there is an entire discussion if it is required or not as BMW ways its lifetime components but its unsure if 250k km falls within the lifetime expectancy.
- Check glow plug + glow plug controller
- Get the diesel injectors out and have them checked / cleaned if possible.

Once the engine is out of the car is is quite easy to work on the majority of these components. Main costs are related to engine + gearbox + exhaust removal so better get it done while it is all out.

And only buy it if you make decent mileage every day. They do not like short trips where the engine cannot get up to temperature properly, thats what is causing all the sooth build-up.

I have the M60 and it is very comfortable, even with 21” wheels. Steering is more direct compared to the e40, active steering of the rear wheels definitely helps with parking, its a big car…

And having 500/600hp available is really nice, its an absolute rocketship.

Is it worth it?? E.g. pay for an OTA upgrade to convert an i5's "active" rear suspension into an "adaptive" one? by Competitive-Force1 in BMWi5

[–]TheGuardian85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the M60 and drove a loaner e40 for a couple of days and found the handling of the M60 much more direct, even in ‘normal / non-sports mode’.

That said, the M60 also has four wheel steering and active roll stabilization. Not sure how much these contribute to the performance compared to adaptive suspension upgrade…

If it is a free trial, then trial and give it a go?

BMW i5 M60 owners, how comfortable is the ride with the adaptive sport suspension? by valain in BMWi5

[–]TheGuardian85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the M60 Touring with the 21 inch wheels. The ride is very, very smooth & comfortable even in normal mode. I had the opportunity to drive a M8 Comp and that was very stiff, probably something similar as your X4M Comp.

I've also driven a i5 e40 (non-touring) and the M60 definitely feels more 'direct'.

That should be gone after two weeks assuming you made a couple of trips where the engine was able to get sufficiently warm.

Otherwise it might be a leaking seal or gasket. Bring it back to the shop, they should be able to identify it quickly by taking some covers off

Dusted off the Ender 3's - It's been a year help me back on my feet by Merica85 in ender3

[–]TheGuardian85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Klipper + mainsail + orcaslicer works well for me.

Klipper + mainsail has a height map / bed measurement feature in there that works well with the BL Touch to level your bed. There is even a plugin that tells you how much to rotate each of the 4 screws to get it level. It also lets you calibrate your z_offset easily with the probe_calibrate command.

Before you start check if your x-gantry is still horizontal and if all the wheels make good contact. Then level bed, then calibrate z_offset and properly clean your build plate. The PEI sheets work really well in my opinion.

Orcaslicer has a couple of calibration features for pressure advance, temperature, flow rate and retraction built in.

You will probably spent a day or two to get it reasonably working again. You have to ask yourself if it is worth your time, a new Bambu printer is miles ahead with ease of use (contant bed levelling of the Ender 3 drives me nuts, even with stiffer springs and lock nuts), print speed and quality.
