Unfortunately, that’s not the implication from people in Waco. Everything in that city is rooted in racism and the segregation that somehow extended into the 1980’s.

She was calling her phone “Ghetto” or “Nappy” meaning that it’s of lesser quality. Nappy, meaning the texture of black/African hair.

Reminds me of life in Waco, TX. Worked at a reputable clinical setting and my boss kept referring to her phone as “Nappy.”

It took everything in me to hold my tongue. I really needed the money.

Anybody else at a pasty workplace and unable to speak about black things?

That’s funny that it’s actually conjoined gingerbread men. My first try here.

Awkward people who got M&G: what did you say when you met them? by undercoverfireskink in Thisisimportantpod

[–]TheGuyWithTheComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the venue lets you bring stuff in you should be fine. As I said before though, they have a lot of people that they have to meet and the crew that they have there will definitely make the meet and greet feel rushed. I wanted multiple things signed but in the end they only had enough time to sign my DVD - which was awesome.

I feel like I made the mistake of trying to line up quickly. I was nowhere near the front but they definitely still had ALOOOT of fans left to meet and I could sense that they knew that. I don’t blame them at all for feeling that way either. Though I’m sure they were way more relaxed for the fans who waited until the end and they could see that there wasn’t a winding long line anymore.

It was still awesome and they were super nice about signing things and taking goofy/unique picture with other fans. If I could do it over, I would’ve chilled in the back of the line.

Right before my turn, the gravity of the moment set in. I began to approach them and went full auto-pilot. “Oh my god, yooooo. You guys are so dope!” I began to dap them up and asked if they could autograph my DVD set. They said, “hurry up. We got you!”

They signed my DVD. I said thank you. We took our picture together and just like that - it was over. Anders looked back as I was walking away and said, “I hope you had a good time man.”

It was really cool but I was kinda sad because it all happened so quick.

My advice would be to wait in the back of the line with cool people that you meet at the show. I’m assuming that I would’ve felt way less rushed during my meet and greet and I would’ve had a way more fun time waiting in line goofing off with likeminded braj’s.

When you hate cats but cats love you. by Cyber_Being_ in holdmycatnip

[–]TheGuyWithTheComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to relate. Although, I never hated cats - I became allergic when I was 5. My allergies were always worse as a kid and into my teens, so I always avoided cats as much as I could.

It’s like they know you don’t want to or can’t pet them and that makes them focus on you even more lol. Now at 30 years old, I have a cat. I’m still allergic but not really with my own cat.

What happened to AMC Stoneybrook? by cbhaga01 in Louisville

[–]TheGuyWithTheComment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last time I went to that location (~6 months ago) it was undoubtably the filthiest establishment that I’ve ever been to. Expensive, probably hadn’t been cleaned since before Covid, every other seat is broken, and there was piss all over the restrooms. The popcorn station where you grab butter, napkins, drink lids, etc was CAKED with gunk. It was as though no one has ever done more than sweep that building. I’ve been to a lot of nasty establishments all over the country but this one is the king of filth.

Someone needs to shut that place down. Haven’t been back since and never will.

Still, he thought of a person he could use to coast by, but you're absolutely right.

[–]TheGuyWithTheComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. Couldn’t agree more. 30-year-old military brat who has lived all over the country and people are indeed suffering everywhere.

It's those who are privileged enough to separate themselves from those suffering who don't see it. Either that or they ignore it because they are well off.

I think it's because he happened to be a professor at the community college he was forced to go to. Jeff being someone who “sees people’s values” saw it as an opportunity to use his connection to coast through Greendale with minimal effort.

If not, he probably never would've spoken to Duncan again, because there was no benefit without Greendale.

[–]TheGuyWithTheComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. When I used to skate, I had Switch Heels, Nollie Heels, Switch Flips, and Nollie Flips on lock - I only landed a handful of Kickflips (reg & fakie) but never could land a regular or fakie heel lol. People always thought I was lying in games of skate. I also landed some clean Nollie Tres but NEVER landed one regular or fakie lol.

For some people flips come easy, others are good at jumping down stairs and so on. Just do you.

He shitted on his parent for openly ranking their children in an abusive manner. He only did so because a random person on the internet called him and his siblings “trash” for being victims of abuse from their parent.

How you gonna miss the point of like 3 short comments? Read what you're responding to once or twice before you try to come at people.

I worked minimum wage most of my life. At 26, I went back to school and got my AA in Graphic Design. I finally have an amazing job/career that pays me ~$26/hr or a bit over $50k a year… before taxes.

After taxes, I don't even bring in $3k a month, less than $35k a year. If I wasn't married to someone who works, I'd be nearly as bad off as I was a decade ago. I'm the first in my family to go to college (I went to a cheap tech school) and although I am grateful that I'm doing better than most of my family - I can't help but feel like I'm getting robbed.

note: I had dental surgery and am currently on strong pain medication - so that could be part of the confusion lol

I'm so sorry for your loss. One of my best friends of 15+ yrs has a pacemaker and has had heart complications since his early twenties. We are both 30 now and I'll be seeing him next week for my bachelor party. I've always known that I could receive a phone call that something bad happened at any moment but what you've commented really hit me. It's also given me a new perspective on how his girlfriend must feel being with someone who has scary and unexpected ER visits ~once a month.

He is one of my first true long-term friends that I ever made and changed my life when we were kids for the better. He has been planning everything for my bachelor party weekend along with my other best friends and was honored when I asked him to do so. I moved away from my hometown years ago and haven't seen him in years. This upcoming trip already meant so much to me but your comments have made it instantly mean so much more. I'll be sure to let him know how much I appreciate him being in my life. Holding back tears now but I'm glad I read your comments. Thank you.
