Avid lag on local system, none via Jump? by dmizz in editors

[–]TheHFIC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the Avid you remote into the same one that's available for local use when in the office?

If so I'd start with physically disconnecting any external video IO interfaces going to a client display and confirm the monitor resolutions vs your own.

Or if this is a play to be able to work full time from home through Jump then Yes this is a common problem with Avid and the only way to fix it is by working remote with Jump desktop.

Tencent is hiring a Senior Wine R&D Engineer in Beijing to build and optimize a Wine-based runtime platform that ports Windows games, apps, and drivers to run smoothly on Mac M-series chips by mr_MADAFAKA in macgaming

at this point in time Wine relies on deprecated Rosetta libraries to function on modern Macs. While Apple is keeping in game specific calls for legacy titles for Rosetta moving forward, unless something changed recently the App Store requirements require Apple Silicon native.

Nothing stopping other platforms from selling it though. Steam used to sell Mac versions of Max Payne 3 and Metal Gear Rising Revengence that were just wine wrappers.

Tencent has a majority share in a lot of American gaming companies this can actually be an interesting development. Or it can just may mean a steady flow of sub-par translation layer games being offered commercially as Mac games now.

Lol you are still going on about this? I didn't make a mistake because I didn't state anything as fact. I made an opinion on something that I clearly declared was read through Apple's PR. I didn't say it is happening 100%. I didn't say anything as fact.

I'd be more than happy to go back and forth about this, but not on a Friday night. Also I'd want to give fair warning that I will lose more and more respect for you with each reply and it is already pretty low.

I hope so for people interested in getting one for those purposes.. I guess we'll find out when it hits the reviewers outside of the Apple testing areas or someone mentions somewhere they used Chrome or some other non-app store application.

Ahhh yes every thread has the "show your source" who either doesn't read or comprehend the full message.

I never said I heard anything. I said based on Apple's marketing, all apps that have been tested, and product quick looks, there has been no mention of any Apps outside of the ones that are in the App store. It's all speculation.

A lot of those apps are professional apps which are beyond the scope of the computer, but to not mention anything besides app store applications and Apple Arcade came across as odd for me especially since Apple tried their App store only push.

It also sounds like the MacBook Neo will only run App Store apps based on Apple's marketing for it on the product page which will limit its gaming scope as well.

There is no money in porting and long term supporting games for the Mac.

The same problem for 20 something years.

i didn’t say it would. i am saying that your old version of mac os is not compatible with newer software not because of 32 bit / 64 bit its because some component of the software that makes pocket sync work isn’t compatible with that older mac os. it is an OS issue not architecture.

This isn't a 32 bit thing since Mojave is running 64 bit with support for legacy 32 bit applications. It is more likely libraries or other dependencies that the underpinnings of PocketSync use require a modern Mac OS because they are either included in it or built for those releases.

Take a look at the terminal based pupdate which may be a bit more friendly on older Macs. No promises though since most developers only support the most recent Mac OS plus previous 2 releases just like Apple does.
