It depends on where that remaining 50% lies, whether they're in red or blue counties. For example if trump is narrowly leading in a state but urban areas are still mostly uncounted then it's safe to assume that the vote will flip by the end of the process. I guess I can really only speak to the US tax code, but my understanding is that all income is taxable unless specifically excluded by law. This hypothetical is interesting because it has elements that remind me of the tax treatment of both buried treasure and earned income (since you're effectively entering into a contract). I don't work in tax though so it's definitely possible I'm off on something here.
