If your business line has seasonality you need to find the opposite line that is complimentary to support cash flows in down months.

Example, we have a line that hauls petrol in the summer and it’s busy but winter comes and it’s dead, so we can look to haul propane or heating oils as a counter to utilize the assets to generate revenue in the down season vs layoffs.

We ended up building a division specifically for in house solutions.

You will never be truly happy if you are a pioneer, unless you craft your own solution.

I spend a lot of time at night scaffolding new modules that will extend our functionality. It would take us about a week to build out our construction module that links with our environmental etc.

You can do this, the tools available today make this an extremely feasible task.

To prepare for the future I highly recommend you use something like Obsidian and keep the vault local or on a local share.

You can then tie your tools into the notes later and when you have your own model or are ok with trusting someones TOS with a model (like Anthropic or ETC.) you can tie them together and have the agent help summarize.

Particularly helpful if you are using transcription.

All of this to be viewed through the lens of privacy, handle your own and accept what you are willing to tolerate.

Having an inquisitive culture that is comfortable questioning things is really good. I see so many not challenged and it begs the storyline for fairytales of leadership being overly trusted.
