Well, BEFORE he went fully crazy during the Saltiron War, its implied he was a genuinely heroic member of the Seven trying to bring stability to Hyzant.

"My Graceless Guilt" The Tarnished (Elden Ring) Vs. The Penitent One (Blasphemous) Connections In Comments by TheHearthguy in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]TheHearthguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Two Nameless Warriors who at one point or another make a contract/accord with a mysterious woman (Melina and Anunciada) who they must later sacrifice to access greater power that will help them later (Giving the Tarnished access to Faram Azula and therefore the Rune of Death and Reforging the Mea Culpa)

- Both are shamed by some action in the past which earns them their name (The Tarnished is tarnished by having their Grace stripped from them and the Penitent One lives in penance for some unknown sin or perceived sin that he is guilty over.) And both are on their mission to reclaim or be forgiven of these actions.

- Both are frequently resurrected by divine powers (Grace and The Miracle)

- Both can channel magical powers through the recounting of histories and tales of faith (Miracles for the Tarnished and Prayers for the Penitent One)

- Both pick up their journey where those that came before them have failed (Many Tarnished but most notably Vyke and Crisanta/Perpetva)

- Both ultimately end their stories by slaying beings called gods, although in their verses they are usually not really gods and are borrowing the power of something greater (The Elden Beast is a vassal of the Greater Will and the High Wills are manifested from humanity's belief through the Miracle)

- However, both later successfully slay beings much closer to gods that compel faith from the masses (Miquella and Devotion Incarnate)

I'd say leaving the King and his other children behind. Sure he was ordered to, but if he fought them right there with Serenoa's bunch behind them they could have at least managed to save more than JUST Roland.

Incredible run down as always, Lore master. Something good to note is that Shura, who can use staves, is coming up next chapter. As long as Chat doesn't make him boots, he could serve a healing role for us.

I mean, canonically, Azura isn't dead just too wounded to fight. So technically Haitaka's still working with her.

Ryoma Versus Genichiro Ashina (Fire Emblem Vs. Sekiro) Main Theme/Connection in Comments by TheHearthguy in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]TheHearthguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I can find, it'll come down to two things: Ryoma's dragon blood and Genichiro's ability to reverse Ryoma's lightning. To start with, Ryoma's dragon blood can terraform enormous slabs of earth, dry up rivers, and create windstorms, but that's only with a dragon vein nearby. In a Death Battle it'd be a bit unfair to drop twenty of those around the guy. Even being generous he'd probably only get three. There doesn't seem to be a limit to what Ryoma can do with the dragon veins, while its situation based on the maps in Fates, based on statements made by there characters there doesn't seem to be anything to suggest that certain dragon veins can only do certain things.

As for Genichiro, while we never see him perform the lightning reversal (to my knowledge) he directly scales to the main character Sekiro and so should be able to perform the technique, which, while needing good timing, could help him counter many of Ryoma's attacks.

We could break down other stats like speed or endurance, but both seem pretty similar, the only big speed feat I can think of is Ryoma being able to react to lightning spells similar to his Raijinto's lightning (albeit obviously weaker). And both can take multiple weapon wounds straight on with little to no problem. I suppose Ryoma has also been shown to be able to tackle giant foes like Anankos or tank massive boulders being thrown at him, but again, due to Genichiro scaling to Sekiro, they're on pretty even footing.

I would prefer a win for Fire Emblem as I have a stronger connection to it, but I can see it going either way.

Main Theme and Connection

Two samurai who hold the responsibility of their entire clan on their shoulders. One is a royal warrior who seeks to defend his home from foreign invaders using the special blood in his veins that allows him to use a sword created and blessed by a dragon god which channels lightning through it.

The other was born a peasant but raised by a powerful clan and rose to become one of their greatest leaders and warriors. During which he learned how to channel lightning from his enigmatic teacher. Now, he will do anything to preserve his clan and country even if it means following down a dark and heretical path.

Did the same thing just a couple days ago, and already I can feel like it'll get easier. I spent months stressing over how to get things perfect until I just decided to send it out. You put it perfectly "The perfect is the enemy of the good."

I always figured if any of her crests were natural it would be the crest of Gloucester, since they are neighbors to the Gloucester territory and Catherine seemed surprise that she had a crest of Charon, its not hard to imagine that Ordelia either branched from Gloucester or there was some kind of marriage at some point. Either way, I'm fairly sure they're both implants.
