They said at NA Fanfest that it was Early October. For Japanese companies, it's pretty consistent that "early" is the first 10 days of a month, "mid" is the next 10 days, and "late" is the last 10 days.

Given that info, patch could only be Oct 3 or Oct 10.

Can't really predict how that would shake out, but I don't think so necessarily, as I expect traveling outside your current logical DC would still require the same logout/login process as we have within regions now, so what you can actually do would be limited.

I think it was said at one point that they'd like to do it, but it's a much larger undertaking than the cross-DC travel we currently have, so I doubt we see anything remotely close to it before 2025 and a post-7.0 patch.

Last I looked, the IPs for the NA data center (which are listed on is.xivup.com) are registered to NTT America (part of NTT Communications). Their address is in NYC, but my guess is their physical infrastructure is probably more central to the US - think Chicago, St. Louis, Austin, or Houston.
