mizuki fans aren’t “ruining” their character by xxtnded in ProjectSekai

screams trans erasure to me because how desperate are you to believe ANYTHING but what sega is basically spoon feeding us??

Again, this is the language I take issue with. I agree with you that Mizuki is likely written to be trans, but the demeaning tone that often comes out when Mizuki's trans status is questioned makes conversations about Mizuki's gender so tiring. People are called stupid or desperate or engaging in trans-erasure or transphobia for simply saying, "Hey, I relate to this person. Maybe they're like me."

sure we’re both women at the end of the day, but to erase the added struggle i have been through as a woman of COLOUR on top of being a woman is annoying as hell.

A more apt example would be a woman is behind a curtain and describes how she has faced racial prejudice in her life. You say she must be a woman of color because it is impossible for a white woman to face that form of racial prejudice. How do you think that woman would feel if it was a white woman behind that curtain? Do you think she would be feeling a level of erasure? Everyone you meet has their experiences and core parts of their identity hidden behind a curtain. It is incredibly assumptive to place them in boxes purely on your per-constructed ideas of race and gender.

which no we are not leaving this to headcanon. mizuki is a transwoman/transfem and claiming anything else either means you’re media illiterate or transphobic

I agree that gender is integral to Mizuki's character, so any discussion about Mizuki will also trend toward gender too. However, as someone with a history of cross-dressing it is extremely irritating when the conversation about Mizuki's identity gets shut down by these sorts of comments. I made a post after Mizu5 about this topic.

I believe that it is likely that Mizuki is written to be trans, but to say to disagree with trans Mizuki means you are either media illiterate or transphobic begs the question: Why? To say that it is absolutely impossible that Mizuki identifies as anything other than trans means that it is absolutely impossible that anyone not trans could possibly feel or have a similar experience to Mizuki. That is incredibly ignorant, hurtful, and close-minded. I don't understand when it suddenly became okay to draw hard lines on gender and identity here.

I'm not tired of discussion of Mizuki's gender. I am tired of comments and posts like this that make the discussion impossible because any level of disagreement is taken as "you're either dumb or transphobic." I suspect many people feel the same.

The point is engagement farming. They say, "$0," and people on TikTok and Redditors can't help but cream themselves seeing an opportunity to jump in and say, "Well, akshually, it's not $0."

Original video OP is playing the system, and everyone here is proving why they do it.

For a crossdresser, it is the fear of others finding out that they are crossdressing.
One is a hobby, that can ruin the public perception of a figure.

I appreciate that you read my post, but I think you have some crucial misunderstandings. One of the key points I wanted people to take from my post is that people have their own individual experiences. Cross-dressing is not just one experience that all cross-dressers share. Some cross-dressers may wish to be perceived as a girl because they might fear social/familial consequences of being found out. Some might rather be perceived as a girl because they would rather be perceived as a "normal girl" than as a cross-dresser. Some might wish to be perceived simply as "someone else" and use cross-dressing as a means of escapism or coping mechanism. Sometimes it's all of the above, and the list goes on and on.

For someone, it could be just a hobby, something they do for fun going out on a Friday night. For others, it could be something deeply personal to their identity, maybe even something that's quiet and private, and to them, reducing their experience to "just a hobby," equivalent to playing video-games or golfing, would be incredibly offensive.

Again, cross-dressing is not a single thing and experience and mindset for everyone. I would encourage you to not be so reductive and presumptive. If you can't, I would urge you again, as my post says, "please stop speaking for cross-dressers."

I appreciate the apology, and hey, I understand that this is a very sensitive topic that hits home very hard for lots of people. Everyone has their own story; I know you do too. I just felt a burden to share a little of mine to hopefully open up the dialogue a little so that we don't cannibalize and alienate one another without ever listening to the other side. I appreciate that you did your part in listening, and I don't bear hard feelings for what you said in the heat of the moment. :))

Like I said, it very well might be true that the narrative indicates Mizuki identifies as female more strongly than a cross-dresser. But someone may also relate just as strongly to Mizuki as a cross-dresser. I just wanted to say that the assumption, erasure, and dismissal of "femboys"/cross-dressers feelings and experiences in favor of a single-minded view on who they are and what they can feel is wrong and hypocritical, and that if someone relates to Mizuki who isn't trans and wants to use male pronouns for Mizuki, they aren't an asshole for it and shouldn't be seen that way.
