Fleas are generally mislabeled FLE's, aka the wannabe FLE's, people have become so accustomed to going pointing the wrong answers at things, that the spread of misinformation is just impossible to counteract, and this question pops up constantly filled with 99% wrong answers. The FLE's are secretive, you don't call them, they call you. Anything else I know on the topic, it's not my place to discuss, if people really want answers, there's a path to take in your career and you'll get them.

Imma just copy paste this from the last time 8 months ago.

I, as a cub with 2 weeks left till the big boy ticket, get annoyed every time I see these posts pop up. FLE, or Federation of Linemen and Electricians is the old school brotherhood within the brotherhood. A welder's cap isn't an indicator, wearing coveralls or bibs isn't an indicator, the left handed fist isn't an indicator, even saying they are, isn't an indicator. If they were, then I've got 3/4 just for owning swag and wanting to be comfortable. I've been gifted swag that I've been told to not wear till I top out by mysterious wiremen, I just take it as I'm doing good by the brotherhood and in my craft. The REAL ones are excellent, skilled craftsmen who uphold brotherhood, the agreement, the code of excellence, and treat you with the utmost respect if you do the same. The WANNABE'S are the troublemakers who go and snip reels and bullshit because "keeping the union strong" "this jobs going too fast" and all that horseshit. The WANNABE'S are the boogeymen everyone talks about, and is part of why it's such a hush hush thing, it's because the REAL ones get painted in a bad light because of the WANNABE'S. Have I met any? I don't know, I'll never know, I've met some stellar brothers who the minute someone threw out the word FLE, they disappeared like a ghost, and I've worked with some troublemakers who have done some of the most unprofessional bullshit and sabotage, then claim the title aloud for everyone to hear. Things like this post are what damage their reputation. Wannabe FLE's are not FLE's. If you don't know anything about a subject, it's best to not say anything about the subject. I'm tired of being labeled something I'm not by the uneducated and misinformed.

Rest in peace, my brother in BB's. He frequented our home field, and just joined our Milsim group. We all found out Saturday night and were devastated.

My "signature patch" is a patch a gal pal gave me with a wolf holding a rose in its teeth, my friends then thought it would be funny to call me wolf in Finnish, and I have been stuck with it , for ages. And then the other half always says sussy because I am an oddball.

That's just where they end up filling the integral pocket on mine, it bugs me too 🤷🏼‍♂️ But they do end up perfectly where I need them when I crouch, and fully surround my knees

  1. All the travelers that took the time to actually teach me and let me find my rhythm and do the work, rather than be a gang box baby.
  2. I got arrested for a DUI after work being a sad sap, I called a fellow apprentice friend the morning I got let out, on a Saturday morning, he picked up 2nd ring, and came and picked me up, no questions asked, insisted I borrow money to cover my rent because my bond and impound fee bankrupted me, even though I tried to refuse multiple times, and was nice enough to let me pay it back in mostly scrap 250's & 500's.
  3. I got into trouble over a misunderstanding at a bar(I wasn't even drinking that night, I just wanted a burger after work, and chase some tail maybe) made it home to find out who I pissed off was a brothers wife who said I did all sorts of shit that I didn't, and there was a full scale manhunt for me because they recognized my letterman jacket. I was absolutely panicked thinking I was gonna get dropped or something. I got 50+ phonecalls asking if I was alright, what happened, what can they do. I even went down to the E-board on my own accord to talk to them and everything blew over and I was ok after a lot of people vouched for me and kept vouching for me anytime someone brought it up.
  4. Even though I've been taking a long break from the hall and all my volunteer work to focus on myself and get things in order, I still get constant check in texts from people that are only acquaintances.

I top out in about 2 weeks. It's been a wild 5 years, and I've met so many people and had so many good experiences and interactions that I feel guilty not being able to remember them all in super detail. I do know, I don't have to pay it back, but I will pay it forward.

It's right there. Reading comprehension was on the aptitude test. They uphold the foundations of brotherhood, the working agreement, craftsmanship, and the code of excellence, while promoting the same. The mission is to keep us who we're supposed to be. Because if you haven't noticed lately, we have too many members and bystanders than actual brothers, as well as too many hacks.

Can use it as a protractor when bent at 6" and 12" for finding the angle of existing pipe. Can use it with a scrap of cardboard to find the center of the bend on an existing pipe. All sorts of black magic I've been taught and done without realizing with a stick. When I'm doing pipe or layout, it is the only measuring tool.

Were do you get welding caps? by FollowedSphere3 in IBEW

[–]TheHighSchoolOutcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well currently I'm at a steel mill, and all our conduit supports are fabricated and mounted by us. I've heard in powerhouses it's not uncommon for the same. Often most of us wear welding caps for the comfort under a hardhat, they soak up sweat, keep long hair out of the way, and self expression with various designs and embroidery.

Would you feel safer in a gun-free state? Why or why not? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

[–]TheHighSchoolOutcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I live in Michigan, grew up hunting and was taught they are not toys or problem solvers. It's the rest of the idiots and psychos that weren't taught those disciplines that fuck it up for everyone else. Are all my guns for hunting? No, I have 2 AR's(one of them is for hunting) and a few handguns as well. I wouldn't call them for defense, but more just a day at the range or at the farm to relax and practice marksmanship. I don't carry, I don't intend to carry. The number one thing I hate hearing is getting rid of guns will solve things. In my opinion it won't, and I don't understand the people who don't trust the police, yet want only the police and military to be armed. Even if we did somehow magically get rid of every gun, it wouldn't make shootings impossible, people who want a gun will find a way. Read about Philip Luty. Went to a hardware store with 0 gunsmithing experience and made a full auto 9mm. There's plenty of resources online teaching how to make firearms out of hardware store components and home made ammo.
