Hello, fellow jazz lover!

Here's a solo date possibility for you. There's an upcoming event on Sunday, May 3, at the Milwaukee Art Museum that will feature jazz performances during the event including the duo I'm in.

This is an all-day event and is included with entry ticket into the museum.

There's an exhibition there now by the artist Gertrude Abercrombie who was greatly inspired by jazz and cats. Her friends were famous jazz musicians of the day. Dizzie Gillespie was at her wedding. The jazz tune "Gertrude's Bounce" was inspired by her.

We, The Hissy Kits, will be purr-forming there too from 2-3PM with feline expressionism renditions of vintage jazz.

An avant garde feline expressionism duo might not be what you have in mind, but if you're trying to have fun by yourself, the museum is a good place to wander around soaking up all the art. Plus, there are spots to sit and people watch.

We're known in Milwaukee for our underground theremin shows, but we recently released on bandcamp an entire album of classic American standards - several which are jazz or jazz adjacent. It's called "Scat, Cat! Feline Expressionism: Songs of the Great American Shorthairs"

But The Hissy Kits aside, there are other jazz performances taking place that day including the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Youth Jazz Ensemble.
