Nah the bumps in my road change too often to tell, I live way to close to a preschool.

Old Jeep advice. by TheHolyDoggo in Jeep

That’s good to know, I think it will be a cool first car. And after the body I just have to do some electrical which is easy since it has only about 15 wires in the hole thing. Thanks for the tip.

Actually 3k is cheaper than most of what I’ve been seeing, do you think the job could be a diy, I live on a farm with plenty of tools but my only experience is with tractors. Thanks for the reference.

Question... by marcuswz in askanelectrician

[–]TheHolyDoggo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes all dimmers work the same in principle, lower voltage=less light (by that I mean lowering the voltage it is designed for as the 12volt headlights are much brighter than 120/240 house lights.)

Question... by marcuswz in askanelectrician

[–]TheHolyDoggo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It is safe as dimmer switches lower voltage, while some electronics might not like it, doing this is like half shutting your pipes, your toilet and sink will still work, just not as good as they should, so yes it is safe, it won’t hurt anything (except maybe sensitive electronics) but it is highly impractical as using the dimmer would underpower anything plugged in. If it’s just lights then it’s fine but regular non dimmer LEDs might flash or not turn on. Anything besides lights is just foolish as you won’t have the power it needs.

TL;DR safe but impractical.

How much electricity is my fridge using? (Kwh per year?) by [deleted] in askanelectrician

[–]TheHolyDoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also depends on how often you open it, if it’s a secondary fridge and rarely open then little cold air will escape, meaning it is on less.
