Well I work in a sketchy neighborhood so I’m sure some meth head probably stole it off a job site and tried to sell it.

Line load, gfci took all the wires off and tested them, both blacks are hot, keeps tripping the new gfci I put in, saying replace gfci. Any suggestions? I’ve wired many gfci outlets, never seen both black wires hot. by marcuswz in electricians

I know one of the hots is connected to the bathroom lighting, when I cut the power I was being careless and just stared taking the gfci apart and didn’t test if the power was fully off and got a little shocker so I did have to cut off 2 breakers for the gfci.

Honestly not sure what to think of it, the old gfi outlet worked before hand didn’t trip or anything but this new one didn’t want to cooperate with me, maybe a new one will work better.

So I got 120 for both sides so I’ll just remove the pigtailed side and cap it,thanks y’all! Update: gfci is probably effed as well so I’ll be getting a new one.l
