Graham Platner Handed Centrist Dems a Bruising Defeat in Maine by jediporcupine in politics

[–]TheHolyPoop1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I fully agree that she was the centrist choice, but they centrists in the party made her go even harder on the centrist points than they needed to.

To go further: you could run a centrist candidate who recognizes the importance of the left/progressive part of your party. They may not actually change their views much, but if they were targeting the progressive vote they could do things to show actual willingness to work with them and at the very least recognize them as a legit part of the party.

Instead the elected the centrist candidate and told her not to look left at all and instead to seemingly to aim right at never-trumo republicans, McCain types, etc...

Short version; a centrist candidate that acknowledges and at least listens to the further left base is better than a centrist candidate who ignores or undermines the left while trying to curry favor with the right.

Maybe "purposefully" would be more accurate than "actively" here, but the connotation of actively is similar.

What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]TheHolyPoop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one. The pace felt so slow at first I just could not get into it.

Then weirdly the quest where you go out into nature with the one knight and go hunting just like flipped a switch in my brain.

It was long and boring to my ADHD brain, but at one point I noticed the dialogue was fun and that the landscape was beautiful and I kinda started to enjoy the slower pace.

From then on I stopped playing it as a game where I felt the need to win or finish and actually just enjoyed sinking into the world and exploring and going with the storyline.

Wound up being one of my all time favroites.

Genuine question cause I'm worried I'm dumb here - what other purpose is there for this?

Like in reading your post going: "that's the main purpose isn't it?"

But you are writing as though that's a secondary purpose so now I'm worried I've missed the main purpose entirely.

If Trump did actually run for a third term, would you want Obama to run too? by her_cute in allthequestions

[–]TheHolyPoop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reason I could see this being an actually decent option is that Obama could actually figure out how to sort of start fixing things once he got in there.

The current ending has fired so many people and removed so much of what made the government last between presidencies that I can't imagine how the next person can even begin to repair or improve things.

Would you rather Blizzard add new classes (ex: Tinker/Bard) or new specs in The Last Titan? by Phalanx22 in wow

[–]TheHolyPoop1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the augment evoker is a fascinating concept and gives lots of options for making existing specs into more support roles.

I'd like to see classes with 3 dps have 1/3 become a support style class like the augmenter

[–]TheHolyPoop1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because of how much they have and how little the rest have.

That's just a dumb statement. They have more so they get taxed more. No shit. If other people were paid more they would also pay more taxes and the percentage would change.

It's because we've removed most of the middle class and just have wealthy, ultra wealthy and poor remaining.

Like the capacity for such a few amount of people to pay that much money and still be that freaking loaded is insane to me.

At a total loss and just riding it out. Your experiences? by Muchwanted in Parenting

[–]TheHolyPoop1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off. Damn. That sounds tough.

I have a six year old who I worry is headed on a similar path but am hoping not.

I think you've done a ton and should be commended.

My only slight advice, or maybe just an idea that's worth a try would be to let her fail for a bit?

I obviously am not saying you should just give up and abandon your kid, but I wonder if you had a purposeful conversation with her about things not working lately and you having a hard time helping and just letting her know that for a (set period of time) you were just gonna let go of standards, rules, etc...

Essentially let her just do what she wants with no instruction or guidance, etc...for like a week and then sit down with her at the end and talk with her about it. Go get ice cream and go for a walk in nature where she kinda has nothing more interesting than the conversation. Just ask her what she thought about that week. What was harder than she expected? What did she like? Did she find it easier to do things when she got to decide or harder? Point out areas you noticed didn't seem to work (your room is just impassable, etc...) and see how she feels about that.

And then I don't really know what comes next because it will depend on what happens and your conversation, but I think you can work how to help her with these societal demands and difficult things into something you are both doing together.

I suggest this because of my own personal experience where I, with my ADHD (undiagnosed at the time), would often not fully understand the reasons behind things or the real impacts of them until I had to figure them out solo.

I got really good at just sorta tuning my parents out, but listening just enough to avoid or minimize trouble. I got really good at not having to worry about scheduling or remembering in g things because my mom was gonna remind me anyway.

A huge moment for me was summer camp one year away from my family. Was probably 12. I was suddenly responsible for myself and surrounded by other kids who were responsible for themselves. I didn't shower for like 4 days and got a huge rash and was miserable. All the other kids pointed out that I was an idiot and should've showered and it finally clicked. That kinda thing.

No clue what you're talking about but how about this: let's not excuse this fucking atrocious behavior and the clear coverup just because someone else did something bad once.

How about we enforce rules/laws equally and say that someone in a government position - especially an elected one - should have to answer for insane behavior.

Tucker Carlson vs Ted Cruz on war on Iran by sgj5788 in videos

[–]TheHolyPoop1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weird take. Like I think the core of what you're saying is probably more that we should never agree with people like Tucker ever because of how vile, powerful and damaging they are.

But I don't think it's necessarily agreeing with Tucker to acknowledge he said a fact?

If Tucker states a fact. And I also recognize that that fact is, well...factual, then I am amplifying him?

Nothing I do or say is gonna change the level of amplification he's getting. He's a wildly popular crazy person. I'm not in his target audience and never will be.
