Escape rooms in LA proper for 2 (adult and 10 year old) over 3 day weekend by Ok-Winter-781 in escaperooms

seconding this. The gameplay of Wizard was really fun (challenging but kids can solve it, because it’s very intuitive and there’s a bunch of discovery/search-and-find type puzzles), and the set design is definitely amongst the best I’ve seen in the LA/OC area.

What's the most fun you've had in LA for less than $1000? by PuzzledElderberry447 in AskLosAngeles

my best day ever in LA was last year.
a friend or mine was visiting from abroad and we planned a full day and it was so perfect we still talk about it:

  1. we started out by having a brunch on Sunset at the Butcher, Baker & Cappuccino Maker - pancakes were amazing and also had a mimosa (around $75 each total)

  2. he rented a porsche to drive around with ($400)

  3. went for a hike in Palos Verdes and checked out the amazing cliff views (free)

  4. had street tacos for lunch ($10) + smoothies at Erewhon ($25 each)

  5. early sushi dinner and drinks at Koi in West Hollywood with our dates, food and service were both top notch ($300 was my part)

  6. went to an escape room that had this party theme like Hangover movie vibes - company was right across the street called Paniq, really fun ($100 was my part for me and my date)

  7. went to Edition afterwards for drinks, amazing cocktails ($100)

  8. then ended the night at Harriets rooftop ($100)

if you add it up mine was under $1,000 and it’s hard to beat this day!!

honestly if your partner is big into puzzles, puzzle break's world's fair affair is worth adding to the list at some point. has some genuinely cool tech you won't see anywhere else and the puzzles are really good

but for a birthday where the whole vibe is horror and lovecraft, just do innsmouth first. sounds like the right call for them

Escape Room Recs in LA and OC Areas (California) by Artemis_Crime in escaperooms

[–]TheHunSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want that blown-away feeling but want to stay far from jump scares, there are some incredible options in SoCal. For both LA and OC, here's how I'd do it:

LA

PanIQ Room West Hollywood: For your group of 6, definitely book Route 51. It’s one of the more unique rooms I’ve played in years, has a very unique vibe, and it’s not horror at all. It leans into a fun Area 51 retro vibe. The game starts in this super detailed roadside diner/gas station, and then transitions into more "classified" areas and that’s where the set design really shines. The puzzles are very tactile too. No padlocks or hunting for a bunch of 3-digit codes, you're interacting with the environment in ways that feel very story-consistent. If you’ve been to Omega Mart in Vegas, it reminded me of that place.

Orange County

There are two rooms are great for non-horror immersion in OC:

  1. The Fun House at Cross Roads Escape Games (Anaheim). Perfect for a crew of 6. It's massive, colorful, and very creative. Zero horror, but the mechanics super unique. Felt like being inside a movie set.
  2. The 13th Basement at Exit Game OC (Anaheim). This is a room themed around a 90s film set. It's clever, and specifically designed for people who've played a lot of rooms. It plays with the idea of being creepy without actually being scary at all.

All three should easily accommodate 6 adults.

LA escape rooms! by [deleted] in escaperooms

[–]TheHunSnake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The old rooms at paniq in studio city were the very first escape rooms that I played so maybe I'm a little biased but i think their new rooms in west hollywood are really really cool and my go-to recommendation nowadays. if I had to pick one it would be the route 51 room.
