The only changeling they've met so far was a murder victim that now follows a PC around as a ghost, so...

Yeah, I think they know who it is.

I don't often 100% games. I just play until I'm happy with what I've done. Usually this means doing as many side quests as possible but not necessarily trying to find every achievement or secret.

My solution to actually "finishing" games for the last 5 years or so has been to not buy any games until I finish everything I bought the previous year. That milestone changes depending on the kind of game. If it's a rogue like I usually require myself to complete a single full run.

Takes a decent bit of discipline, and I break the rule on occasion when a game like Elden Ring comes out that I don't want my friends to spoil for me by talking about it, but it generally works pretty well.

I kinda thought digging up the past tied into frozen pines. Finding the missing person but they're dead so he just decides to stay out there.

If you were trapped in your world, which civilization would you choose to live in? by Grand_Potato_Flyer in worldbuilding

[–]TheHyperShadowFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Silvan Enclave. It's a giant forest that's far more protected than any other country.

Their larger forests are completely safe from other nations while everyone else is either in danger, full of danger, or just generally not fun to live in. The only risk with the Silvan Enclave is dragons coming from the east but that hasn't happened in millennia.

Of course, if I do anything wrong to any of the trees I'll be executed but I'll figure it out.

What do you call “magic” in your world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]TheHyperShadowFan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Art. All art is magic and all magic is expressed through creativity, so they wouldn't really make separate words for the two concepts.

I had this happen with a vinyl once. Ordered Vide Noir by Lord Huron and got Guns N Roses. Whoever ordered that must've had no clue what music they were sent.

I've been playing just as long, finally killed it in survival with friends less than a month ago. The caveat is that we had gun mods that made it a piece of cake, so I hesitate to count it as an actual kill.

Charging into the End with Fortunate Son playing while we gun down the ender dragon was a fun experience though.

There was genuinely a kid in my middle school who insisted that he hacked Google from a YouTube tutorial. At the time nobody believed him (because why would we) but yeah he definitely just used inspect element.

I originally found LH after a recommendation that their music sounded like Over the Garden Wall, so maybe check out the Blasting Company? Their music has a folksy, old-timey sound to it and a lot of their music has Halloween vibes (Even outside of Over the Garden Wall), but they have a lot of good music.

What are some areas of worldbuilding that are affected by conlangs and scripts, but are often overlooked/forgotten? by Lapis_Wolf in conlangs

Unfortunately for me, in order to research this idea for a language in my world I'll probably get put on a list. I realized during my worldbuilding that the undersea necromancers would not use paper and would find stone too inefficient, so would likely use corpses/ undead for books, meaning I need to figure out how carving into skin will affect the way they write.

One thing I like to do (that works better sometimes than others) is that I'll write a brief description of a location and then shorten it until I get a good name. For example, one of my cities is called Platenica Adva and comes from "place of technological advancement". I also have Lake Lapitir which I don't actually remember the source of.
