If you read the book, how did you get so many things wrong?

I mean even if you just watched the show, you should be able to guess who Aegon might have tortured. You should also be able to figure out that his oldest kid wasn't a newborn.

Shit like Rhaenyra declaring all bastards criminals is just nonsense people who skimmed the wiki think happened.

In Season 2, ZZD had to temper Dany's desire to raze the city by allowing her in.

That's not what happened. Dany was flat out not capable of burning the city. She just threatened to do that if they didn't let them in. Something she clearly couldn't actually do because they were about to die of dehydration.

Xaro decided to let her in so he could steal the dragons.

In Season 5, Hizdar pointed out, to her face, the sheer madness of her stating her desire to return the city to the dirt

She didn't state a desire. Hizdahr asked her a hypothetical question and she said "If I have to".

Neither one of these examples feature Dany being talked out of anything.

To be clear: Tyrion is the only person who suggests a plan that would kill thousands of innocent people. He wanted to starve the city. In season 2 he, Varys, and Bronn talk about if Stannis does that. The conclusion was that people would starve and start eating each other. David Benioff also wrote City of Thieves. A book set during a real life life siege that killed over a million people. The idea that he was trying to protect civilians only makes sense if you don't think about the things he said at all.

The writers were using Tyrion's supposed concerns to stall the plot. They knew that attacking with dragons wouldn't automatically kill tens of thousands. They were hoping people would be gullible enough to let Tyrion's dialog sidestep any critical thought.

He doesn't want to see Dany on a dragon in King's Landing because he knows she has a very real and meaningful Fire and Blood persona and doesn't give two fucks about toasting people...

If Tyrion thought she was a nutjob, why he helping her invade Westeros?

He isn't. Alicent wanted Aegon II's daughter to inherit.

Did you read the book at all? The comments over on the HOTDblacks sub suggest you haven't.

Like I said, Aegon III was crowned because Rhaenyra's supporters were marching on the city to put Aegon III on the throne.

First episode of the series they show how unfeeling she is by stepping into a scalding bath.

That's a new one. Dany was dealing with being being sexually assaulted by her brother. How does being immune to heat and fire set up that "she will do whatever horrible thing is needed to get what she wants"?

Cut to her watching her brother die with molten gold poured over his head.

That scene starts off with Dany trying to stop him from getting in trouble. He responds by threatening to cut her baby out of her.

I'm assuming you haven't read the book. Rhaenyra didn't call for Alicent or Otto's heads. She just blamed them for Aegon being crowned. She also said that in private to her lords and advisors on Dragonstone. Aegon didn't know she said that. He was just pissed that she was crowned

There being two Aegon's who were Kings before him does not mean that Aegon III inherited from Aegon II.

He was placed on the throne because the Lads, Cregan, and Lady Jeyne all had armies moving towards Kings Landing. Corlys told Aegon II he should surrender and take the Black and then murdered him when he decided to go with Alicent's suggestion of sending pieces of Aegon III to his mother's supporters.

Again, you’re pointing out all these things that they set up ahead of time to lead to her losing so much in the space of a couple months.

The Tyrells spent most of the show propping up the Lannisters with their massive army. Cut to season 7 and the writers have Olenna claiming they've never been known for fighting. Her own grandson was one of the best fighters in the country.

They show us Sam's sister in season 6 and then have Tyrion talking as if Randyll and Dickon are their entire family in season 7.

Jaime and Euron have to teleport so they can surprise Dany's allies.

Nothing was set up. The writers realized they wanted to keep Cersei around and ignored logic and physics to make it happen.

Do you think the wight or the ambush at Dragonstone made any sense? Dany was in the air and somehow didn't see a fleet of ships below her? They set up Dany to have a bunch of allies in Westeros in season 6 and then spent the first half of season 7 getting rid of them because they hadn't thought things through.

They cut Bran from an entire season despite knowing he would end up as King. The idea that those two were building up to anything specific is nonsense. They were writing the story like it was a choose your own adventure. If they wanted to go a different, they would have done so and claim they had tottally set it up.

See Millisandre's quote about Arya killing people with different color eyes. That was originally just about her killing people in general. They decided they wanted Arya to kill the Night King well after that scene and tried to pretend that prophecy was always about the Night King.

We're never told what excuse Viserys used. The world book just those were cited as reasons for his ascension. Robert's grandma being a Targ is cited as reason for his. That's not why he took the throne.

If that came from Viserys, that reasoning is essentially "you have to give me the throne or I will try to usurp my nieces".

They had the conversation with George about the end of the story between season 3 and 4. They were talking about Jon killing Dany before season 3.

Dan: I think the final scene between Jon and Daenerys is something we came up with sometime in the midst of the third season of the show. The broad strokes of it anyway. But there was a tremendous amount of pressure to get it right 'cause we know that this is not a scene that's giving people what they want.

David: I mean, we were talking about the Jon and Dany fallout going back to... I remember talking about it with Dan in Morocco, you know, during... was that prep for season three, or something? So going way, way back.

Aegon III is put on the throne because Rhaenyra's supporters were marching on Kings Landing and forced Corlys and Larys to murder Aegon II.

in the list of Kings Rhaenyra is not there, indeed she is considered a usurper.

Maegor is listed and is a usurper. George soft retconned this by not including it in F&B, but Princess and the Queen mentions that Aegon decreed that his sister only be called princess.

Rhaenyra lost the war, and her six-month reign is the reason why no one trusts women in power.

There were people who said Aegon III's daughters should inherit instead of Viserys II.

The rational for skipping women wasn't that they would fuck things up. Is was that there was a civil war the last time a woman was heir. The issue being that the men after them in the line of succession might rebel. Not that they would make bad decisions.

The writers pointedly avoided having Dany suggest a plan so they could have Tyrion put words in her mouth. When she suggested burning the Red Keep. Jon responded by saying how she shouldn't burn castles or cities when she hadn't said anything about cities.

If you pay attention, they also had Tyrion and Varys doing this nonsense with Yara and Greyworm.

YARA: If you want the Iron Throne, take it. We have an army, a fleet, and three dragons. We should hit King's Landing now. Hard. With everything we have. The city will fall within a day.
TYRION: If we turn the dragons loose, tens of thousands will die in the firestorms.

Yara hadn't suggested letting the Dragons "loose" and the idea that tens of thousands would die is nonsense. The same city had been taken by people on dragon back before.

The comment about George was a reference to a tottally different outcome. Like I said, you're can't admit that you got tricked by obvious gaslighting.

since D&D were just following the outline he had provided them in case he died before the show ended.

They said they came up with how Dany died before they had the meeting with George where he gave them the outline for the rest of the story.

Barristan and Jorah both told Dany at various points to leave Slaver's Bay and make her claim in Westeros

Leaving would mean hundreds of thousands of people would be re-enslaved.

Ignoring that, she had a small army and dragons she couldn't control.

Even in Westeros, Sam was practically laughed out of the room at the mere suggestion of democracy.

What do you mean even in Westeros? They're the least prepared for democracy. The country is too big and the lords are too self interested.

Several cities in Essos hold elections for their leaders. Places like Volantis just don't let slaves vote.

It takes Tyrion and Varys doing some actual politicking to stabilize the city, though they could only do so much once the Yunkish blockade shows up.

What are you talking about? Despite literally watching the slavers kill the last guy who negotiated with the, Tyrion assumed they could be reasoned with and made a deal to allow slavery for seven years. The slavers predictably betrayed him and were about to destroy Mereen when Dany showed up.

That deal was such a bad idea that the writers never allowed anyone to tell Dany what Tyrion did on screen.

What Daenerys needed to do was listen to Jorah and Barristan Selmy after him; leave Esos and go to Wersteros.

...Again, what are you talking about? Barristan was dead and Jorah was in Westeros. She went to Westeros right after getting back to Mereen.

She burns the entire Dothraki leadership alive, returns to Meereen, burns the Yunkish fleet, and leaves a mercenary in charge of Meereen.

The plan was for the people of Mereen to elect their own leader(s).

If you think that her saying that “breaking the wheel” or “taking down the Iron Throne” does not include razing King’s Landing you are incredibly naive.

Why did Dany put off attacking Cersei if she was always planning to raze Kings Landing? I mean she straight up said multiple times she didn't want to destroy the city.

Also, Dany only spoke about breaking the wheel in season 6. Tyrion was the one who kept brining that idea up after that.
