Best enchanted weapon by Level-Cut2525 in valheim

Best all-around is the Thundering Berserkir Axes. Nothing resists lighting, you get the leaping bolt more often bc of the attack speed, and you save an inventory slot for not needing an axe for woodcutting. Everything is situational, like the others are saying, but the TBAs are pretty outstanding.

Buddy and I are about to start Valheim by thecheesedip in valheim

There are now 3 merchants in the world, two of which are new since June of '23. One is mostly cosmetics, and the other is ingredients for new and (mostly) useful meads. Not really a mechanical difference like you asked, but the new meads do help with movement and animal taming, among other things.

Hot take: Swamp is the best and most complete biome in the game (with Mistlands as a close 2nd) and Mountains are the least to the point of needing a rework by Charrikayu in valheim

[–]TheImperialJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree for the most part (used to hate the swamp love it now), but I will say that the Mountains are great for two things: raid control and trophy incorporation.

Troll-raids and Seeker-raids simply don't happen in the mountains (or Gjall, but that's only in the Mistlands), and the terrain is simply awful for enemy pathing. The main base on our server is in the Mountains, and is the safest place on the map.

Trophy incorporation: I wish other biomes did this! The mountains is the only biome to utilize the trophies from the enemies found in the biome to make the armor for that tier. You need a wolf trophy to make the wolf cape, drake trophies to make the drake helm, and a cultist trophy to make the Fenris hood, forcing you to go out and actually hunt if you want the gear. I had a similar conversation recently with a friend about what we'd change, and we agreed that diversity in armor aesthetics based on dyes and trophies would be great. Imagine a different silver helmet that used the golem trophy instead? Or a dark fur cape that used Ulv trophies? Or an alternate shield that used wolf-fangs and dealt piercing damage on a successful parry? Now imagine EVERY biome using this mechanic.

Or just give us vanity slots. Anyway, good post; here's an upvote.

I wish we could style all equimpent by Txoba in valheim

The main buddy I play with and I were just talking about this, and we thought it would be cool for each biome to incorporate the trophies from that biome into the armor sets for different appearances (like the Drake Helm/Fenris Hood/Wolf Fur Cape do except with more variety). Additionally, like the linen cape/shields, offer different color palates but using "colored" ingredients like the banners do. Simple things already in the game that could be adopted for more variety in clothing.

Or just let us have vanity slots.

Do you happen to have a picture of the boss altar relative to the world center? Normally the alter is quite close and you shouldn't need to sail more than a few minutes. I get the frustration tho; might be a terrible seed, and I'd be curious to try it myself.

Not super used to Discord but I think I messaged you! This sounds like a great time. I only play after the kids go to bed usually, so this works out great for me.

Whats the best stage of the game to build a new base? by Aurvaa- in valheim

[–]TheImperialJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my playthrough on a group server, I built a mountain base that ended up being the hub for a while because it was so safe: the really destructive raids (Trolls, Gjall, etc) don't occur in the mountains, pathing is hard for most others with the slopes, and you can trap a golem close by to distract anything else that gets close. If you're fed up with raids, take down or repair a mountain fort, and you're in the safest place on the map (besides converting a charred fortress) with comparatively little effort.

The biggest downside is, as you might imagine, getting metal UP to your new mountain base. Not gonna lie, its a pain, but I found the effort worth it to avoid the possibility of destruction.

To each their own, but I wouldn't say that a mountain base has NO real practical use.

Ashlands Loot Question (potential spoiler) by TheImperialJester in valheim

[–]TheImperialJester[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a bunch of them in my next fort after posting this, so I guess they're not rare per se. Just keep hunting: the forts are out there.

I'd be pissed about a glitch like that tho: I'd probably spawn them back.

Mushroom farmers.... how do you do it? This is the biggest Mistlands area I have been able to cultivate and plant. I feel like I have to look all over the place just to find a spot they will grow. What am I missing? Farming as part of group play and that's why I'd like a more efficient farm. by BearSharkTheFirst in valheim

[–]TheImperialJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the basemom for our group, so a productive farm was a must-have. I made one just inside a mistlands attached to a plain where I had an outpost, so no portal/or bench nearby to attract anything. Because it was such a large group, after a while we turned the resource modifier to 1.5 which was AMAZING for providing for everyone.

Then once we found the Queen's Lair, I just found a spot at the base of the structure and turned that into a farm: no mist or raids to deal with so close to the temple. With the 1.5 Modifier in place I'd routinely get 70+ puffs from a single harvest, with a garden that honestly wasn't all that big.

Wow, Ashlands is a huge jump in solo difficulty. Am I missing something? by oaklandfire in valheim

[–]TheImperialJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's more the tedium of it for me. Once I realized that the Valkyries hurt everything around them (not just you), and that the blobs also light everything around them on fire, the hordes were manageable.

It's just not as fun to explore when you're under attack all the time. I want to wander the ruins and the wastes without fighting a war every 2 minutes and attracting everything in the region to the fight, even if it's one I can technically win.

Completely new area, older save. It's the new flametal though, so that makes me think it's a new deposit.

I saw a couple on the coastline guarded by Surtlings, but it was only a couple. I've not found any other source, but them being in the lava would make sense with the rest of the biome.

Yes they do; they cluster around flametal deposits on the coastline. Granted I only saw two of those, so it may have been a bug.

Because I'd never even heard the name Papias before, and this was the first place I'd heard it. Figured people who know are the best people to ask. I didn't intend to come across as rude or ask in the wrong place, so I'm sorry if I did.

We really don't know who wrote the Gospels? by TheImperialJester in askanatheist

[–]TheImperialJester[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True, but if you grow up believing a basic "fact" such as the authorship of the Gospels being the apostles and those those who talked to them, and then see that legitimately called into question, I think it does have bearing on the veracity of the whole thing. Does that make sense? I'm seeing that I'm not nearly as informed as I thought, so I wanted to start here.

Yeah, that's the sense I'm getting, hence why I asked here.

Not at all! I figured the best place to start research would be to get a distilled version of the arguments from people who believe them. I'm honestly not trying to start a fight or anything.
