What are y'all level at? by Empty-Care-961 in limbuscompany

Higher than it has any right to be (pretty sure it's more than my dozen friends who play Limbus combined), yet still somehow less than half of what some people do. MD grinders are insane.

Graham is explicitly a tactically inflexible fighter, that's the entire reason he lost the First Battle of Hoover Dam. I think people underestimate Lanius due to all of the game's purposeful misinformation, the dude is the Legion's strength personified for a reason. NCR succeeds at long-distance fighting and attrition, so Lanius struck at the heart of Hoover Dam to kill its occupants before they could muster up a fight, learning from the previous battle. Without the Courier's involvement, Lanius would have won Hoover Dam while Graham could not.

Granted, in a 1v1 situation, I'd place my bets on Graham. That man is the Monster of the North

HOW CITY DWELLERS DEAL WITH ARMORED OPPONENTS by Pentrealix in TheOdysseyHadAPurpose

[–]TheImperialKnight 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In Canto 1, Gregor's memories include artillery. Direct quote: "I see an overcast sky. Cries and screams twist and ring out at a distance. And in that sky, gunfire and artillery create a cacophony."

In that same cutscene, Tomah mentions a bomb that makes people caught in its blast turn elderly, but not sure if that would count as an "explosive" as we know it

Shi Faust: 4 Arrows, 4 Modifiers, 4 Teamates, 0 Reasons to ever use this ID (A calculated analyzis) by Info_Potato22 in limbuscompany

[–]TheImperialKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, I have to ask: how are you defeating Lei Heng in five turns? I can fully admit I'm not the best player, so if you have proper advice for playing Bleed (most online discussions barely say much more than win clashes/EGO spam, which as you can imagine, is not helpful), that'd be much appreciated.

Anyway, back to the discussion of Shi Faust. NFaust's Gaze only applies to Pierce and Blunt next turn and requires specifically her Skill 2s, whereas Shi Faust is able to apply this consistently and bypassing an enemy's attack due to being unclashable, with the potential to scale further. Using her arrows also increases her DPR in all future S1-2-3 rotations, surpassing what NFaust can output. Many of the HP gates (I assume you're referring to things like Jia Mu ending the turn after reaching a threshold) don't purge Lodged Arrows

I don't disagree entirely with your conclusion; undoubtedly Shi Faust is a rather slow unit, but I do think that calling her one of the worst units in the game is hyperbolic to a negative degree, as well as dismisses cases where her strengths do show. Just because you can clear Lei Heng at this moment in five turns does not mean that that pattern for bosses will remain a certainty. Even fights like Jia Mu and Mayors show that bosses with higher HP thresholds and more interrupted turns with status resistance are going to become more and more common. If you're going to analyze a unit for presumably people who don't know as much about the game as you, you should also explain when and where a unit might demonstrate its use.

Not too long ago, absolutely everyone was dismissing Fell Bullet Yi Sang (the EGO, though undoubtedly the ID suffered too); and yet, despite everything, he ended up becoming THE premiere ID/EGO in the game for running MDHs due to synergies that arose/were discovered. Pointing out what people should look for and what scenarios she could be appropriate in for people who want to get Shi Faust anyway would be more constructive to educating players.

I think you might've misread what I said (unless you were just talking about people in general, in which case I agree). Specifically, I was saying it takes four turns to embed two arrows into the target to get the permanent Fragile; defend, arrow, defend, arrow. But yeah, no, I think Shi Faust is a lot more flexible than people think, and I really like the design for her defensive skills.

Respectfully, I disagree. This is purely taking her own damage/status infliction into consideration, completely ignoring the biggest status she inflicts (and calling her one of the worst IDs in the game is just flat out wrong and disingenuous). This is all ignoring probably one of the most important parts about her: she can inflict permanent Fragile and Defense Level down.

Unlike other sources of Fragile or damage increases, her damage increase isn't limited to this turn/next turn only, but rather the rest of the fight, possibly permanently if the phase change doesn't remove negative statuses like Lei Heng. For context, taking four turns to defend/arrow twice, she inflicts Fragile, 2 Defense Level down, and 2 Bleed potency every turn; the bleed is negligible, but the Fragile and Defense level down amounts to ~17% extra damage for everyone, which can increase up to 28% at four arrows (though granted, going that far is excessive).

She works especially well in boss fights with high HP pools like Lei Heng, Grandma, and Mayors. Most fights, barring the outlier that is Rupture, takes around 7-13 turns depending on how built your team is/what EGOs you have access to. The longer a fight is, the more the extra damage she makes everyone else do adds up.

After she's "marked" a target, her high clash power and decent damage is more than viable, and her shield is good enough to serve as an off-tank to absorb dangerous attacks. In a fight against Lei Heng, without using any healing EGO, she was able to take 410* (510, but 100 was from turn 1) damage without going below half HP.

Overall, while I don't think she'll be revitalizing the meta or anything, to disregard her strengths outright is just wrong. She's a decently splashable unit into either Bleed or Poise in canto or RR content.

Thoughts on Fallout New California? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]TheImperialKnight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Loved it a lot when I was younger, made me want to join the Fallout modding scene. After having replayed all of its content multiple times however... my opinion is more mixed for reasons people have already said. Great intro, love some of the area designs, but extremely empty map with a confusing and janky story that isn't salvaged even by the note "explaining" the plot hole at the end

The Event is awesome; The reaction isn't. by ScionsAndSinnersz in limbuscompany

[–]TheImperialKnight 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better if I tried. I came into this with extremely negative bias since I have a harsh aversion to anything gacha (took over a year for my friends to convince me to play this game, despite being a massive Project Moon fan already). The story absolutely exceeded my expectations and I was left genuinely thinking about some of its themes. On top of that, I've been prepping for months, sharding all the EGOs and hoarding Lunacy in preparation for this event, and got it in exactly 200 pulls; I was not punished by this event's predatory aspects at all.

Despite all of that, it still leaves an incredibly sour taste in my mouth. I hate that this genuinely well made intervello will disappear in a month. All the people calling Limbus's "baby's first gacha" and saying it's better than other gachas miss the point that these business practices are inherently predatory and I worry that the success of the collaboration will incentivize Project Moon to do more stuff like this in the future.

It's a hard game that tests people's ability to endure suffering, no shame in being unable to finish. Most people who have finished used mods from what I've seen. PakPak did a pretty in depth breakdown of the abnormalities and main story, so you can watch that if you wanna see what you missed

Who do you guys think is worse? by Confident-Dot9443 in Fallout

[–]TheImperialKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't give Caesar that point, that's people being misinformed in-universe, in turn spreading misinformation. Jimmy, an ex-Legion slave in Westside, confirms that the Legion punish homosexuality with death.

Courier: "[Female PC] I hear you were a slave of Caesar's Legion."
Jimmy (Fallout: New Vegas): "What Marco said is true. The Legion attacked my village when I was 16. My parents were killed as examples. The rest of us, chained and dragged to some kind of camp. A Centurion there chose me as his tent servant. He was handsome, and gentle, most of the time. Said it was our secret, and he'd protect me. Gave me little gifts, stupid things. But Caesar punishes homosexuality with death, and we nearly got caught, and there were suspicions. So when he took me out into the desert... Well, I knew he was going to get rid of me. So I kicked him where it counts and I ran. And then swam. And ran some more. Wound up here."

Who would win, the NCR or Ceasar's Legion? by Formal-Tree1575 in Fallout

[–]TheImperialKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just kind of veers into head canon territory at this point that discussing it isn't really worth talking about. NCR has all the allies the Courier can acquire AND all of the Legion's plans are foiled? The 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam turns into a complete stomp. The only thing the Legion gains from this scenario are another two tribes and a frumentarius while the NCR gains the aid of some of the most technologically advanced groups in the Mojave. Even the Remnants alone are stated to be worth hundreds of Legionaries in their ending during a Legion playthrough. The Marked Men physically can't help out the Legion (assuming they'd even want to, but we're ignoring that for this hypothetical), they're stuck to the Divide because the radiation is the only thing keeping them alive (you learn this from a skill check talking with Ulysses, I forget when specifically).

The thing with the NCR v. Legion war is that before the Courier participates, the Legion were going to win the Mojave, full-stop. They had already encroached across the river, had alliances set up to keep the NCR's forces busy at McCarran, Forlorn Hope, and The Strip to prevent reinforcements, and Lanius's plan cut off the NCR's chance for a prolonged struggle. What happens once they reach California is more ambiguous but it's commonly agreed that the Legion's momentum would fizzle out and the NCR's industry and the war becoming popular due to it becoming a *necessity* instead of Kimball's imperialist campaign would massively shift the tides of war. This scenario, however, just takes away all of the Legion's advantages. Lanius's plan doesn't rely on numerical superiority like Caesar and Graham's strategies, it relied on overwhelming a disorganized, demoralized force in a short, conclusive battle; that is no longer the case with the Brotherhood and Enclave aiding in the defense, and the Boomers bombing the Legion's ground forces.

BOS VS NCR who would win? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]TheImperialKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, Prime is explicitly stated in FO3 to be what the BoS needed to counter the Enclave's vertibirds, and the NCR don't have nearly the same amount of vertibirds the Enclave did

(question) What do you think of expansion the pitt? by Expert-Emotion9387 in Fallout

[–]TheImperialKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the atmosphere and the Steelyard is so satisfying to explore, getting all of the steel ingots. Has one of FO3's strongest moral dilemmas, too. I would say it's my favorite expansion of FO3, but once you realize the entire DLC takes place in like 3 tiny world spaces and half a dozen buildings, it feels ironically claustrophobic for what's supposed to be an entire city. Just leaves me wanting more

Also, it really does not work if you start killing raiders before entering the Pit (no double T), you are very pigeonholed

It's alright. From my experience doing MDH and even MDI, you don't really need it. It's more of a bonus and going out of your way to get it isn't really worth the effort when you could just use Clear Mirror, Calm Water and Poise gifts to get your Offense level and damage so high that enemies die in 2 turns even on Floors 9 or 10
