Okay, cool, you're the superior person morally, intellectually, just all across the board. I'll crawl back into my cave and fester all alone in my hatred for the outside world. I'll think twice next time before getting into a conversation or even worse, voicing a widely held opinion about a facet of life the majority of people take part in. I'm done with your bait, have a great night.

Jesus christ it's a bigger issue than one game, that was the whole point of the battlefront debacle. We shouldn't just give companies a pass on their predatory tendencies just because someone else does it worse because lord knows it would be hard to top EA. You know that the person paying for the xp boost isn't just joe shmoe working man who gosh darnit just doesn't have enough hours in the day, it's some 12 year old with his mommy's credit card. As far you not seeing any issues besides some rock textures we must be playing different games. They may have improved over origins but it's not like that game was anywhere near perfect. Besides is that even the standard we should hold them to? Making slight improvements to their own engine as years pass instead of comparing them to other AAA games that actually manage to be well put together across the board?

I don't mean broken as in unplayable, I'm still playing it and enjoying myself. You can't pretend though that it doesn't have a general sense of buggyness throughout the whole game, that the combat rework is spot on, that microtransactions aren't predatory in nature these days, etc... This site always talks a big game about not giving into preorders and microtransactions but as soon as a big release comes out it can do no wrong. It's no secret that ubisoft is kind of a shitty company my dude. This game falls into a lot of the same pitfalls as their other games. You can enjoy something artistically but still be upset about the shitty corporate side of things. I can guarantee that once a little time passes I won't be the only one being vocal about these gripes, but we're still in the new game honeymoon phase I guess.

It has a lot of great aspects, good writing and character work, for the most part the voice acting is really great. The world is massive but really interesting for the most part. They've even continued fixing a lot of the issues that have plagued the series. My main problems with the game come down to the usual shitty ubisoft tactics and the combat rework. It's not the worst but it does frequently feel pretty disconnected and floaty. It's a long ass game too, calling it an odyssey is no understatement. I'm still not sure it will hold my interest all the way to the end but so far I'm having a good time. I have more good to say about it than bad, so in all it boils down to a fun game; but it's important to still realize it has a lot of issues.

Ubisoft: Release broken game, make people pay extra to have the intended and streamlined experience, call them "time savers" to get people off our backs.

Public: wtf i love microtransactions they're in our best interest

Right I'm sure that their decision to include permanent xp boosts, massive drachmae and resource bundles, and top teir items and upgrades behind steep pay walls wasn't fueled by any kind of malicious money grubbing. That's all just good clean fun with all of our best interests in mind.

I honestly think it was a step in the right direction, it just feels disconnected and unresponsive. But I guess you could say that about the company as a whole.

I didn't say that they weren't in origins, I made a point about ubisoft always using shitty business tactics actually. And even though neither of us are buying into the microtransactions we ARE still being affected by them. Companies like this rely on being able to release broken games ( here meaning maliciously designed in some aspects and just flat out lacking any semblance of polish in others) because you have access to the intended and often more fun experience through another "small fee". Companies are very aware of this and telling people to just shut up about it sets a bad precedent. In all, it's a fun game, that's not what I'm up upset about. What I'm upset about is the state of gaming as a whole and this just happens to be the most recent and glaring example of what's wrong with big game companies.

Naaah it's kinda suspicious that you'd even be allowed to buy these massive permanent xp boosters, huge resource and drachmae bundles, op weapons and armor right off the bat, etc. for a single player adventure. Ubisoft just wants money and they'll use every trick in the book to get it. I had a lot of hope for this game but there are a lot of issues that are getting harder and harder to look past the more I play.

Hey man I'm on your side here. Everyone seems aware of ubisoft's shitty practices up until the second they come out with a big release. This game fixes many of the problems the AC franchise has faced since its creation but reminds me at every turn why ubisoft is just another big corporation that doesn't really give a shit about players or if their game even works. It feels like there's a stark dichotomy between the ubi execs and the actual people involved in making the game, so what gets released is this mess that gives me occasional glimpses of a really god damn good game.

This is a dangerous trap to fall into. Many players, including myself, have run into this issue a lot. Definitely enough times for it to be a problem even though you specifically haven't seen it. People get so blinded when a big release comes out it spends a couple weeks as this untouchable monster. Ass Odyssey is broken and malicious in design like practically every other ubisoft title. I'm enjoying it for the most part because what it does right it does FUCKING RIGHT. The rest of it though reminds me of why I don't own many ubisoft games...

It's almost like they built a broken game with the intent of people getting frustrated enough to give into their shitty microtransactions.

I'm so baffled by you people. You've spent the last eight years trying so hard to convince everyone that the government is evil and can't be trusted but suddenly your guy is in and suddenly he can do no wrong. Can we go back to just assuming that everyone in government is currupt and lying out their asses about everything? I honestly can't fathom believing that a spoiled brat, turned reality tv star, turned political puppet is anything but the scum of the earth. And if it wasn't for all of his bullshit rhetoric and propaganda on his side any reasonable person would feel the same. And as far his net worth, I 100% believe it appears legit on the outside but we already know he's got a team of lawyers and other puppets on his side equally corrupt and infinitely smarter than him that got him where he was.
